PARIS – France expelled nearly 100 Gypsies, or Roma, to their native Romania on Thursday as part of a very public effort by conservative President Nicolas Sarkozy to dismantle Roma camps and sweep them out of the country, the Immigration Ministry said.

Full story here:
France sends scores of Gypsies back to Romania - Yahoo! News (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100819/ap_on_re_eu/eu_france_gypsy_crackdown - broken link)

Imagine if that were done here. I wonder if places like France are watching how we deal with this and decided to take harsher action?

This is likely to get heated so lets try to keep ourselves civil.

For reasons already stated, the politics forum is out of the question for most of us here.

Is this a way the USA should handle it's illegal immigration issue? Would it even be possible?

Thoughts?

Take away the jobs and you won't need either.

Take away the jobs, the government funding, welfare, govt. sponsored housing and free medical care and we won't need either.

If we can ever get high speed rail off the ground, this becomes a moot point.

{Side note, I normally try not to quote Wikipedia. But it appears to be the only informational source for this information.}

Primary source is Central Japan Railway Company:

That translates to, according to Google Calculator,
12,583,333.3 per month

12 million illegals shipped in a month. Seems like it's right on your figure plus some to spare.

Agreed.

Don't leave the sugar lying around and you won't have an ant problem.

Actually I wonder just why it should be on the taxpayers dime. It seems weve already done are cost share. How about having the employers of the illegals pay their return ticket along with a settlement of a few thousand to make all the rights activists happy.

Win, Win situation, really. Isn't it time they footed part of the bill taxpayers pay. But, I do like Cyannas idea to. Every moment there here it's more babies and more bills.

Oh and I like the fast rail idea. I've invested in rail perhaps if it turned some profit it would offset my taxes for supporting the illegals. I doubt it, but just a thought. I'm deffinitly a fed up tax payer.

Strange how our beloved Politicians can't handle this problem. Guess we don't have the leadership.
A 1954 operation by the United States Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) to remove about one million illegal immigrants from the southwestern United States. It focused on Mexican nationals.
Back during The Great Depression, President Herbert Hoover ordered the deportation of ALL illegal aliens in order to make jobs available to American citizens that desperately needed work.

Harry Truman deported over two million Illegal's after WWII to create jobs for returning veterans.

And then again in 1954, President Dwight Eisenhower deported 13 million Mexican nationals! The program was initiated so that American WWII and Korean veterans had a better chance at jobs. It took 2 Years, but they deported them.

Look, the problem is not "handled" because big business interests (read Republican) benefit from illegal labor. Nothing fancy, nothing cute, nothing moral or immoral, just follow the dollars.

Nope, didn't happen.

A canard of the right. Not what happens.

The government can "force" us to purchase city stickers, license plate fees, and so on. Why can't we force the illegals to pay for their bus ride home? Oh right, because only the citizens should have to spend.
