Crackdown: Mexican Children Crossing Border to Attend Public School in AZ « Fox News Insider

Quote:
At the beginning of September, Channel 5 News revealed a shocking story in Roma, Texas. As their cameras chronicled, each morning dozens of Mexican kids are crossing the border from Mexico into the Texas border town of Roma to attend an American school, free of charge. You read that correctly. American tax money is funding the education of kids who actually live IN Mexico and who are illegally crossing the border every single day to attend U.S. schools

It is estimated that $4 million has been spent on Mexican kids just in Roma, Texas, alone. And no one really even knows how much has been thrown down the rat hole in other Texas border towns, not to mentions similar towns in other border states.

The phenomenon of students crossing the border to go to school in California is something that “definitely happens all over,” according to Keri Ashley, head of the CDE’s Statistics Department. “We have a situation similar to Nevada, but the Department of Education doesn’t require districts to devote personnel to monitoring students’ residency status.”

In the '90s, the Mountain Empire School District paid a $300,000 fine to the Department of Education, after a video recorded images of school buses transporting students from Mexico.

commute is not busing. Walking across the border to attend school is not right, but it also is NOT busing.

True, but these kids are crossing our border illegally and getting on our buses to attend our schools.

Incredible, isn’t it? I guess that’s why we have “commuter” bus services.

I'm an HISD high school teacher, and I don't mind teaching any students that want to learn and respect the US. But when I see students will not rise for the "Pledge of Allegiance", that crosses the line for me. The students will say it is not against the law, so they don't have to rise. As a teacher, I give demerits (which the students laugh at). I call the students parents who don't speak English, and they just find it a nuisance that I would call them for such case. And when I send the students to the principal, there is nothing the law for her to keep the student, so the student returns smirking. I'm sorry when the students we are educating doesn't even respect us, something is definitely wrong.
