"Latino" typically refers only to people who come from Latin-American countries. It may or may not include Brazilians or the few countries that are not Spanish derived.

Italians, Spaniards, Portuguese are LATIN, not LatinO.

The two sides are wrong. 1 jumps the border and the other hires them.

If the employers hire legal people only, illegals will eventually leave.

Simple.
yes, they are both wrong. Just like the drig dealers and the drug users

So, how come Italians don't refer to themselves as "Latinos." Common sense says that Italian people who live in Latin American countries are "Latinos" or "Latin," but you said the statement of "Italians are Latino" which was misleading because when people think of Italians, they think of Italy and that definitely is NOT considered a "Latino" country. You are the one who said, "Latino."

Get a clue.
Please educate yourself on this topic.

American immigration has come in waves. After each wave the doors were shut closed. The migration of Irish, Italians and Jews primarily occured from 1880 to 1920. After then the doors were closed until 1965 with Teddy Kennedy's misguided immigration reform bill.

During that time frame millions of Irish, Italians and Jews did not ignore American immigration laws and come here anyway in violation of American laws. This despite the fact that Jews were literally dying in the holocaust by the millions. Jews may have begged for admission on humanitarian grounds but they did not organize movements or parades demanding special treatment and coming here anyway.

It says many rather bad things about Mexican culture that they feel so unrepentantly free to violate our laws in such large numbers. Why should Americans welcome them when their first act is literally to violate the law?

In Europe we consider Italy, Spain, France, Romania and Portugal Latin countries. Latin countries because their languages are based on Latin. In the US these countries are probably called Romance countries.

Here's a wiki http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Latin_Europe

Here's a wiki Latin Europe - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
But they don't call themselves "Latino" like the poster said. I KNOW Italy (Florence, Perugia, and Rome). They don't refer to themselves as "Latino" and that's why I was surprised to see someone say that Italians are Latino.

In US probably they consider themselves Europeans but here in Europe we consider those who live in those countries Latins (NOT LATINOS).
