There is no "official" Anglo heritage month so I don't know what you are talking about. I would rather we stay united as Americans rather than singling out every group to acknowledge the heritage of their ancestors and that would include Anglos also. I am just saying if we are going to have a Hispanic, Asian, Black, etc. heritage month then Anglos should have one also.
This is the type of quote from you that I am referring to:

"As I have already pointed out Hispanics are already the majority in 22 countries on the Western Hemisphere. When is enough, enough? The Hispanic culture is one of an ethnocentric, tribal mentality and that means that no one else will matter but them if they become the majority and take political control. Most like socialism and are advocates of the Democratic party. Our identifying culture and langauge would change to theirs."

Why do Legal Hispanics Support Illegal Immigration? (see this link for actual thread)

Again, maybe you were just having a bad moment b/c most of your other posts do seem more restrained and sensible (even if I disagree with most of them).

But that statement is just dreadful and horrible bias.

Just read the list of our dead and wounded soilders in Iraq and Afghanistan. Names like Garcia and Diaz...they sacrificed for ALL of us!!

But the law abiding ones are not the ethnocentric ones with an agenda. I thought was clear about that. I guess not.

What do Hispanic soldiers have to do with any of this? There are just as many soldiers from other ethnic backgrounds that have given their lives for this country.

Yeah silly Americans.

How dare you think that people should immigrate here legally in accordance with American immigration laws. Even sillier us in believing that immigrants should actually be fluent in English if they choose to voluntarily migrate to the United States.

Remember: Americans learned Italian, Polish and Yiddish when your grandparents showed up.

Oh wait . . .

The only reason they're running advertisments in Spanish is because of the massive migration of Hispanic immigrants. Much of that migration is in violation of American immigration laws.

It gets annoying after a while. Americans should not be made to feel like guests in their own homes by unskilled lawbreakers who refuse to recognize that immigration entails responsibilities as well as rights.

this isnt illegal immigration related; but ill still chime in.

this is economics. the Jets game was also telecast on televisa or some spanish language channel. at least here in LA it was. on the spanish channel it was the english broadcast (audio at a lowered volume) with spanish commentating.

i didnt really tune in. so there was no time to catch the commercials. the reason there was a couple of spanish language commercials is because they probably used the same nat'l advert formatting. they most likely sent the same signal to the various stations regardless of language. that being the case, of course they had to include a couple of spanish language commercials. its cheaper than figuring out two different language/advertising formats.

the larger question: why was the game telecast in spanish anyways? why not? hispanics like Football also. its Hispanic heritage. the NFL wants to reach out to that segment of the pop.

its makes sense...only if you dont jump to silly conclusions about some spanish language takeover of the USA/NFL.

Exactly! The ads in Spanish has everything to do with illegal immigration because Hispanic citizens know how to speak English.

I'm not completely sure how I feel about this, but ...

I actually think a European Heritage month would be a great idea. The older I get the more I wonder why White people aren't able to celebrate their heritage in that way. I think that there are good reasons for black people having a month and other groups, but I don't think it would be bad if European-Americans had a time of celebration.

I think it would be the factor that would help in making us all equal. People should have to answer the question of why there is no European-American month. Is there one? If there is, I know there isn't one that is nationally recognized.

Blue Spark, how is Anglo-Heritage month everyday of the year? That's the problem man. We live in this mindset that "White people run everything, so why do they need a month?" That's just not true. The moment when we realize that everyone has a chance to run this world and we give White people more room to celebrate their heritage and aren't so insecure to see them have a month, is when we will ALL be better off. I think the heritage months were created out of the misunderstandings and injustices of the Black American and Hispanics (who can also be black) as the results of being the "minority," in the country. Since they weren't getting recognition or being understood, the government allowed the months. I believe that both groups asked the federal government to recognize a month of celebration.

I think the only problem with a White American month is being careful not to try to segregate people during that time. Black and Hispanic people have alwys welcomed others during the months of recognition.

The hatred is obvious in this.

Nuff said.
Sure they do. Just more greedy Americans placating illegal aliens for a buck. I don't know about you but I am not ok with that just because it is legal. It is a moral issue to me.

Come on man, it's true. I know A LOT of Mexicans and a lot of other Latino. Some groups isolate themselves more than the other groups. He is right and I guess people who deny that haven't been around those groups enough. The groups of different Hispanics even segregate themselves from other groups of Hispanics. Argentinians from Mexicans, from Puerto Ricans, Dominicans from Costa Ricans, whatever. In the United States there are language differences and fear of other groups. As far as Mexicans, a lot of them came here with stereotypes and assumptions about our people in the United States. With the language barriers, they will continue to segregate themselves. Then there are things like the phrase "La Raza," no one can deny the feeling that is expressed when that view on life is adopted.

When I go places with lots of Mexicans (the group that is mostly in my area and the largest immigrant group) and Blacks, Whites and others. You will see blacks, whites, Asians etc. able to talk to one another, communicate, but because of language and some fear, Mexicans like to keep away. Ain't nothing more annoying than being in Wal-Mart or something and seeing all these scared, uncomfortable looking Mexicans while THE REST OF US have learned to get along a LONG time ago. Even white people and black people with our history can walk amongst one another with peace. Illegal immigration has CREATED that climate and it is sad. That is one of the reasons I want to see illegal immigration reduced because it is causing problems socially. They just stare and look like they are afraid. I'm thinking, "Look motherf!cker, I don't have a problem with you, so put a smile on and go about your business." They come here with their attitude, ain't no American putting up with that. We've come far with our race issues, we don't need a bunch of undocumented immigrants recreating them. That's a headache.

That's what it is like in my city and probably other cities that are seeing these changes.

Also, that's what's so messed up about companies and government agencies catering to our Mexican friends with all the Spanish available. If you accommodate them then they won't ever learn English and the division is ever larger.
