Heineman: Arizona just the first - Omaha.com

He said he plans to introduce a Nebraska version of the Arizona law in January that will be drafted to try to avoid the legal pitfalls that have derailed Arizona’s law

-----------------
Any elected official or candidate in America who wants to become an instantaneous hero with the American people can stand up behind Arizona,” Gheen said.
He said that the vast majority of Americans support get-tough policies on illegal immigrants and that federal inaction on the issue is part of a broader discontent with Congress.
“We see a full-fledged political revolt brewing across this country, and illegal immigration is a part of this,” Gheen said

Illegal immigration is a hot topic in Nebraska. But Omaha is very left leaning and doing it's best to stop any legislation or enforcement. Fremont, the town that recently passed a law regarding illegals..that is being challenged by MALDEF and ACLU of course, is hurting bad from jobs that pay half what they used to due to the influx of illegals.

Last weekend a 19 year old illegal was picked up for his 4th DUI. Anyone else would be in prison for that around here. But not illegals...they need to feed their families. Where's the barf emoticon???

A local candidate for congress was out canvasing the neighborhood.
He said every person he's talked to is at a breaking point over the massive illegal aliens
in our community. I mentioned how many laws we have passed only to be canceled by some silly loop hole 287g is one. With that he said, people are ready to take action, its looking like since the government at the federal level wont take action to support our laws people will.
We have ways of making the local police and city agencies help get rid of them, making them feel very unwelcome is working too.
All the new elected come nov. will be doing something to stop the bankrupting of the border states,
focus will be on the anchor baby problem.Everyone knows the 14th is being exploited.
Cut the bucks they will have to self deport or we will help them go.
Many seem to feel the winds of change less of them are seen every day here.

Good for Nebraska.

I am curious if the NE-AG has done anything to clean-up the meat packing plants and fine the employers/turn illegals over to ICE, since the law in Fremont was passed. Anyone know?

The meat packing plants are not within the boundaries of the law.

The illegal aliens just can't live or work in Fremont city limits.

makes me wonder where was the outrage at DUI #3? Didnt the
county prosecutor think 3 was plenty to have this young man incarserated or deported. That DA should be deported.

They do get special treatment. Yet, when a person gets caught with marijuana and is trying to sell it, they get sent off to jail or prison. The legal resident doesn't get the special treatment and a chance to cry about how they need to be with their family and how if they are not there, then their family will have to go back to their home country. No one should be doing illegal things, so I'm not saying the criminal should get special treatment, but there is a bias there. You read about it in the news.

I think that would depend since people with no "papers" are capable of pulling multiple names out of their hats. Fake addresses, fake names, it is nothing to them as they don't recognize any of our laws in their quest for "a better life".

How is 287g a loop hole for immigration laws? 287g is federal immigration law...in a voluntary program in which local law enforcement teams up with federal agents to make immigration arrests. Are you saying following Federal immigration laws hamstrings you from doing that "vigilante" justice? Might as well get rid of the 14th...those pesky rights are just getting in the way.

Take San Diego case in point. Local LE is being FORCED to get involved. The invasion has shifted to the Pacific and when people are forced to call that people are jumping into their backyards the local Police have to take action. If every City were bordering Mexico there would be no "volunteer" anything. Some Cities Govts just have the luxury of sitting on the sidelines while their tax payers watch the illegal population increase along with the crime.
