Being that most of the illegals are indeed from Mexico: going after them would give the most bang for the LE buck.

I stand by what I said. Common sense dictates that one goes after the 'low hanging fruit' first then solve the tougher problems AKA 'OTM's.
In my area, I've noticed a disturbing trend. Usually, signs will have english, and in smaller letters the spanish translation. Now, it's starting to slowly be the opposite. I saw a sign at the gas station recently that was in spanish and in little bitty letter below, the english translation. I'm not planning on learning spanish (I know German, French and some Russian) and I don't think I should be forced to out of pure necessity. I'm the one being force to assimilate, not them!
First time illegals will never assimilate into the American culture. From their birth they are always told that they are Mexicans by birth for life regardless where they are...so why assimilate. The govmt reminds them of this even tho they are in the US illegally... PS, don't forget to send money home as the country needs all the cash possible. Stefhen

Then confront me .........I am not ANTI MEXICAN as my WIFE is 5th generation AMERICAN MEXICAN................I am anti ILLEGAL MEXICAN and that is the difference and I do have a good understanding of the base reasons the new grouping of illegals refuse to assimilate................

57% would indeed constitute a majority. What percentage of the remaining 43% come from south of the border by way of mexico? No matter how you want to spin it Mexico is the biggest factor in the equation.
I am not anti-mexican citizen. I am anti-illegal immigrant and mexico directly and indirectly owns the biggest piece of the pie.

That could be one of those "what came first, the chicken or the egg" arguments.
Do people say they are Mexican because they constantly wave their Mexican flags, and refuse to learn or speak English and insist on celebration all the national holidays of Mexico, don't assimilate? Or then because they are referred to as Mexicans because of all that, they then get a chip on their shoulder and really refuse to assimilate?

Re-read Convert54's post again: he referred to his wife being American-----and, inferred that she is of Mexican heritage.
I am of 1/2 Hungarian lineage and I have lots of fun with the chauvinistic variety of Hungarian ethnics-----------especially when I remind 'em that I self identify as an unhyphenated American.

I'm was looking at the flag on his PF, go look for yourself. He told me about his wife, but it seem odd he have a crossed out Mexican flag and his wife is of Mexican heritage.
