If we take into account what the illegals have cost us, plus what we spend on their children, this fence is a bargain.

lol sure it has. its cost like 3 billion last time i checked, and what exactly has it stopped? the only reason illegal immigration went down in the last 2 years was because of the economy, not because of that stupid fence

Its called herding. Farmers have done it for centuries. By building a fence even a partial fence it causes illegals to attempt to cross in other areas. This means less areas that need constant patrols to protect. To be exact it means we can focus on less miles of borders. Like cows some illegals will breach the fence. But most will seek easier access.

most of it is built in desolate areas where its nothing but desert for miles going north and south
it was a failure. it's stopped nothing.
"farmers have done it for centuries" wtf?
yea we're farming illegals to the tune of 3 billion dollars. what a joke.
here is an example of the competence involved:

Part Of US Border Fence Built On Mexican Soil (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2007/06/29/part-of-us-border-fence-b_n_54448.html - broken link)

The 1.5-mile barrier along the U.S.-Mexico border was designed to keep cars from illegally crossing into the United States. There's just one problem: It was accidentally built on Mexican soil.

Now embarrassed border officials say the mistake could cost the federal government more than $3 million to fix.

what's 3 million dollars though right? smh

Wrong. The double layered fence that was built in the San Diego sector was very effective. It cut back illegal immigration like 90% in that area. That part of the fence was completed many years ago. It was way before the economy went bad. If we had that kind of fence along all the porous areas of the border it would cut back illegal entry immensely. That kind of fence was supposed to be built along 700 miles of the border. What it does is make the aliens try to enter elsewhere in more dangerous places and it gives the border patrol less area to have to cover in the porous areas.

oh ok so 3 billion dollars to curtail immigration in the "san diego sector" was worth it right. then building a wall with gaps in between is some sort of trickery being used to out smart the coyotes and drug traffickers
yea real effective. why is there even an 'illegal immigration' sub forum? the wall was a success
3 million wasted tax payer dollars to correct a fence that was built in mexico
absolutely stupid

Let's permanently retire the nauseating, flogged to death liberal cliche terms "hateful", "rascist" and "bigot". Ignore anyone who uses these beyond-tired expressions like they are foaming at the mouth.

Compared to the annual disembowelment our social services get from Illlegals that amount is a bargain. I say we build another inside that one and tell Mexico if they want to tear it down have at it.

Even better, how about we tax the remittances obtained illegally That should cover it in short order. In fact we should be covering the costs of the entire fence with a remittance tax.

"compared"
compared to the 1 billion a day wasted in iraq/afghanistan it's a bargain as well, still doesnt take away from the fact my tax dollars are being spent frivolously by incompetent imbeciles. what moron decides to build a wall with gaps? a monkey could figure out to go around it
wouldnt surprise me if mexico's wall is more effective than the one built here

Even without the fence, your tax dollars are being squandered on illegals to the tune of BILLIONS annually. You just can’t win.
