Add the best players and you have a winning team. So:

Now figure that a foreign player will attract audience from his/her home country. So:

A foreign player = a foreign audience in addition to the domestic audience = more money

If a foreign player is better than a domestic player, then guess who gets the job. Add his foreign audience and brings something to the table the domestic player cannot.

It is all quite simple.

[not an illegal immigration issue]
Hum...maybe you are right, maybe it isn't an immigration prpblem, or is it?
But check out what these Immigration Lawyers have to say about this subject!
Walter F. Roche Jr. and Gary Cohn, INS insiders profit on immigrant dreams

I wonder what INS really means?

Oh, and by the way, sound to me like you have never had a child that played sports. And, if he / she did, they must not have made it to a next higher level competitvely. Because if they had, and you had invested the early moring practice hours, day after day, week after week, year after year and just when your child is about to take it to the next level, after everything you and your family have done or scrified to get him / her to this point, only to be shut out because someone in the Ukraine can bring in more ticket sales. How would you feel then? I think you would be singing a different tune right about now.

Oh, and for the record, I have a little girl that sings Opera, not sports. But, I am pretty sure that there is your type of thinking there too!

Most countries have SPECIAL visas for those with extraordinary ability in the arts and sports especially. Or do you feel it's only THIS country that should not offer that?

From memory of your FIRST post you were PO'd because you were told by a club in ANOTHER country that you would have to arrange your OWN work visa if you wished to work for their sports club. Sounds more like sour grapes to me, and that your skills were not such that they felt you would be an asset they would file the paperwork to have in place.

Now, I am in the professional sports business. But, I was looking at getting a job in Europe and the club told me that I would have to pay for my own work visa...LOL...NOT!

But they have restrictions on hiring foreigners just like we do here in the US....so I'm told. But, if a bunch of foreigners are playing professional sports here in the USA, isn't the Club suppose to hire Americans first, before they look outside of the country for players?

One of the restriction in getting a job here in the USA is that you, as a business owner, has to have had an ad in the local or national job bank. If no one applies, then you start looking out side of the country for foreign workers.

Now, what makes the sports industry different from and other industry? It is a business right? I mean they produce a product which is entertainment, but still a product...right?

So why do Americans sit on the sidelines watching someone else from a different country, who got the billet and now they are on the outside looking in, wondering how do they get there shot if that billets filled?

Yes, you can say..."That Soccer player from Argentina is better." Or, that Hockey Player from Canada, Russia, Finland, Ukraine, Latvia,...etc is better. Or, this player from Japan can catch a baseball better then an American kid! How does that work?
Add supermodels and pop stars to the list of people that can get US visas much more easily than many skilled professionals.
That includes Amy Winehouse.

This is not an immigration issue and in all honesty, I'm not quite sure where I could move this... so I'm closing the thread.
Closed.
