Obama: Fate of immigration reform hinges on election - The Hill's Blog Briefing Room

Quote:
The president said that he was short on votes to pass immigration reform in Congress, and that major Republican victories on Election Day could further imperil his ability to pass a bill that reforms the immigration system and provides a path to citizenship for illegal immigrants.

"If the Latino community decides to sit out this election, then there will be fewer votes and it will be less likely to get done," Obama said on the "Piolín por la Mañana" program on Univision Radio.

Comprehensive immigration reform is just a new
name for Amnesty

Obama must think people are idiots after he pushed
through Obamacare then he states;

"First of all, on immigration reform, I can't get 100 percent of Democrats. I can get 90 percent of Democrats, but I can't get 100 percent," he said. "Right now on immigration reform, we're eight votes short or 10 votes short, so we have do the work BEHIND THE SCENES to build the groundswell of support that can get us then over the finish line."

What a putz for insulting mine and every Americans intelligence

I never could figure out what is meant by "reform". I mean what would be reformed? Nothing that I know of. Why can't they just call it like it is "amnesty" regardless of whether or not they would have to pay back taxes, etc.

I don't get it either. My guess is that they are calling it reform instead of what it really is (total amnesty) because it would be easier to dupe people that way.

In my view immigration reform means limiting immigration to 100,000 a year or something along those lines, rather then opening to gates to any and all like what Obama and the Democrats want.

Exactly. The word "reform" sounds like they are just changing something in our immigration policies. To my knowledge there will be little or no changes in our immigration laws or policies. It is amnesty pure and simple but most Americans object to that so they call it "reform" instead. Our policitians and the illegal alien advocates must think we are really stupid. It is like trying to sell a lemon of a car under the term that it is a valuable antique.

And, “paying back taxes” is as much a farce as the “back of the line.” According to CIR, they don’t have to pay back taxes if they “affirm” they owe none. How many of these crooks does anyone believe will actually admit they haven’t paid taxes on their ill-gotten earnings? In any case, those working under the table have no record of even working, let alone owing taxes. The 5 who may admit to owing taxes will have the option of paying by installments.

That boils my blood. How on earth can anyone compare these interlopers and reprobates to black Americans fighting for “civil rights” in this country? It’s an affront, and shame on Obama for stooping this low for votes.

That and requiring them to learn English is another farce. Who is going to monitor that? They will have to get to the back of the line? The line forms in their own homelands not here on our soil.

Clearly, our government thinks we don’t have enough intelligence to recognize BS.
