Nevada high in foreign births By Steve Timko • stimko@rgj.com • November 8, 2010
About one out of every four children born in Nevada recently were to mothers who were not U.S. citizens, the second-highest rate in the nation, The American Community Survey sends questionnaires to households in every state every year to get a demographic snapshot. This data was from the 2008 ACS and asks participants if they had children in the prior 12 months. The estimates said 26.3 percent of the children born in Nevada were to mothers who were not U.S. citizens. California ranked first at 29.1 percent. The figures did not surprise Mary Ann Robinson, coordinator of the Washoe County School District's English Language Learner department.
The school district has 11,243 students in its English Language Learner program, and 75 percent of them were born in the United States, Robinson said. http://www.rgj.com/article/20101108/NEWS/11080318/1321/Nevada-high-in-foreign-births

Comprehensive Immigration Reform is nothing more than chain migration. Needed so non-citizens can become citizens as if they will have less babies if the become citizens. They will still be low wage earners, pay very little in taxes, if any and eligible for welfare benefits via the taxpayers. Then the families they will be able to bring into the country. Elderly parents who never paid into the system added to the system. Fulkerson’s solution is to make a big problem bigger. What part of this article do Fulkerson not understand.
Mind you, in all fairness, the mother being a non citizen doesn't NECESSARILY mean they're illegal either. My daughter has 2 and one on the way, and she would be classified as a "non citizen" even though she's here as a legal immigrant and their father IS a USC.
Until they actually give figures of those mothers who are both non citizens and NOT here legally, the data is skewed.

This is just a sampling of what is going on across our nation.
Nevada has a lot of illegal aliens. Who are the power brokers in Nevada? Casinos, and hotels. Lots of service jobs in those industries.
Harry Reid, who will continue his reign as Senate Majority leader thanks to the labor unions he serves, has already told them that he will try to ram through an amnesty bill for illegal aliens, and the highly controversial “card check” legislation to make it easier for unions to force workers to join them.
Man were getting in the "way-back" machine to visit this story...2006?
It's still a big problem. Just the other day some girl made it past the US flag on the border bridge to give birth. Now it's a life of welfare handouts for her and this baby and all the many more she will choose to have. And why not? She never has to worry about work or how she's going to pay the bills again. Soon she'll be bringing the entire family here - her parents, elderly parents, siblings.
In a way you can't blame them - they're going to have children they can't afford if they stay in Mexico but if they simply show up here and give birth, they will have it made the rest of their lives. Welfare here is incredible - no more problem with utility payments, medical care, food, or housing - it's a total free ride.
