Jessica Colotl is an illegal alien and a college student who was arrested and is facing deportation because of traffic violations. She has now went to court on these charges and was convicted of driving without a license but aquitted of impeding the flow of traffic.
My view is that she should APPEAL the conviction because she stands a good chance of getting the charge tossed out on the basis that she was aquitted of the primary charge which resulted in the secondary charge of driving without a license which brought about the threat of deportation. Many courts have ruled that, if the PRIMARY charge- which is what the police used as probable cause to stop you- is tossed then all other charges that came about as a result of the probable cause charge should be tossed as well. I think it would be horrible to deport a college student who was brought here as a little kid and doesn't even know Mexico. We need to keep her here.

Sorry no. She needs to go back to her homeland with her illegal parents. I am sure her parents taught her Spanish and Mexican culture so she'll adjust just fine. Not our problem anyway.

No. Toss her out. We have plenty of our own low-lives who drive without licenses and insurance. We don't need to import them. She's a young adult who would be able to adjust just fine to her own country.

She was driving without a license, LIED about having a Mexican DL, is here ILLEGALLY, yet her attorneys are going to APPEAL and she herself "doesn't agree with the verdict"? Well stiff cheddar honey - you're here illegally, and don't hang your hopes on any Dream Act passing.

She already has been granted a deportation deferment to "finish her studies"

JHC - why even BOTHER coming here the LEGAL way?

We need to keep her simply because she is a college student?
Lets see the trend.
In the country illegally.
Driving without a license.
Both offences would indicate a pattern of being indifferent to our laws. We need immigrants who are indifferent to our laws?
Now I think we produce enough criminals on our own without importing more of the same.
She has already demonstrated that she has the mentality that if a law is less than convenient to her that she feels it is acceptable to ignore the law.
Deport her criminal butt back to nation of origin.

Without exception, all DREAMies are here in violation of our laws, and all should be deported.

to answer your question, the Idling charge or the driving without a licence are trumped by her being here undocumented. Those are secondary charges and even if she all charges against her were dropped, she would still have the "1325" charges against her.

I don't care if she's a college student or not. She's probably getting a free education too if the truth were known.

One less class seat an actual American could be sitting behind getting an education.
