The point is that for many companies to make a profit, they resort to hiring 'under the table'.
And based on many reports, these payments are not below market rate - but without the socialist overhead - they represent a large savings in personnel cost.
The problem with "enforcing labor laws" is that they're actually tied to national socialism.
Most Americans are trained to believe that they do not have a right to work, but a government privilege that they must pay a tax to exercise. Unfortunately, few Americans bother to read the law.

However, I submit that the majority of businesses do not in fact pass on any savings.
How do some meat packing plants that hire only legals compete against those who hire illegals?
How do contractors who hire only legals compete against those who don't?
I know when I built my home 10 years ago I fired the mason because he could not prove that his laborers were legal. The contractor who replaced him charged only $30.00 more on a $12,000.00 job. Now I am sure that the savings were greater than $30.00.

Just look at how bad Arizona is going to be pretty soon. With all the illegal immigrants leaving who is going to take all the HARD jobs that most of the lazy citizens of this country don't want to take??? Businesses will have to shutdown because there will be no one who will do that kind of work, ruining the economy even more. Plus the homes that used to be occupied by immigrants will have to go on sale. Making the owners of these homes lose so much money and maybe even go bankrupt.

Yes, there are stupid illegal immigrants out there that ruin it for the rest of us. The ones that are out there committing crimes, but they are the fewest compared to how many of us are here.
Just like any other kind of race there are the few who steal, kill, rape, etc. You guys just make a big deal out of it because our background is different than yours.
You see whites on the news doing different crimes, but that doesn't mean that all white people commit crimes. The same goes for blacks and Hispanics, Asians and so on.
If you want the best thing for this country... hope that a law is passed to legalize illegal immigrants. If a law was to pass that did that then all the things that many of you are crying about would be put to an end. Like not paying the yearly taxes, working illegally, etc. Besides, it would cost this country a ton of more money to attempt to get remove all the illegal immigrants than to legalize them.
This would boost the economy and help most illegals. Majority of illegals are here to work, not to cause trouble. So deny the legalization of the illegal immigrants with a criminal record, but don't crush the dreams of many innocent people that just want a better life.
Just like you, we are here in the "Pursuit of happiness." In many countries in Latin America it is very difficult to succeed, so we come here to make a better life for ourselves and our families. We just have one life to live and only one world to live it in, so lets make it the best we can.
Systematic and continuous inspection of work places. Heavy fines on employers. A Supreme Court test of the "anchor baby" amendment, and a new amendment if necessary. Denial of public services to illegals.

I want to be respectful to you for what you clearly believe, but you are very mistaken in many of your assertions. Illegals can and will be removed from the country and should be, along with their children. There is no longer room or patience for compromise. The tide of public sentiment has turned. Go home. There are too many US citizens without jobs.

It is a common error to assume that reluctance for duly enumerated Americans to take minimum wage jobs is due to laziness.
But it is not based on fact.
The fact is that since the hyperinflation starting in the 1970s, the cost of living has made it almost impossible for "lazy" citizens to survive on low paying hard jobs.
I can recall that in the 1960s and 1970s, high school drop outs could find jobs in all those "hard" vocations. And at that time, they could afford to live on the low wages. I knew quite a few, who could afford to pay rent, buy a car, and live a fairly decent life. Some even saved up enough and bought homes.
Not today.
So ultimately, the blame is on the government for creating a barrier to prosperity that shut out the bottom rungs of the ladder for what you think are "lazy" Americans.
In contrast, an illegal immigrant sees only the financial opportunity, in relation to his native homeland. He may send funds home to other family members. His allegiance is to his native land, not to America, the land whose laws he ignores while he seeks his fortune.
An example of the "difference" -
In the Atlanta metro, various municipalities passed laws prohibiting occupation of rentals by more than 4 unrelated people. Yet, the illegals routinely piled in 8, 12, 16, or more, sleeping and working in shifts, splitting the cost among themselves.
So a "legal" American can't cut his costs by as much as the "illegals". And since he's more at risk from prosecution than an illegal - who only risks a "free ride" back home - it's an unfair system that makes it tougher on the law abiding Americans.
Frankly, I think that once the socialist system is eradicated, the Americans will be more than willing to take "hard jobs", for equitable pay. At least they won't be working for the benefit of the bureaucracy and recipient class.

Worked great then and it will work now. We as a nation need to grow back some balls and take care of our business and not worry about the rest of the world. Time to make this nation back into the nation envied by ALL. We did it last time, by not taking any crap.

This country does not "NEED YOU." Not with nearly 10% unemployment. Yes we can, and should deport all illegals here. If you want to come and pursue happiness there is always the LEGAL way. How come that never crosses the mind of so many illegal immigrants? You can live here and work here LEGALLY. Come here legally, and learn the common language here.
