"This is not some dream road, easy-picking concession of the Congress of the United States, of the government, to American citizenship," said Rep. Luis Gutierrez, D-Illinois, who delivered an impassioned plea on behalf of the measure. "No Pell Grant. I'd like to see you get through college without a Pell Grant. No government assistance ... no health care. Nothing. Nothing but your own faith and your own determination and your own work to get you through school. And nothing but your own work, your own determination to join the military."

D-Illinois destroyed any and all credibility.

If ever there were grounds for impeachment his words would be it. A congressmen is sworn to represent Americans and this country not illegal aliens and a foreign country. Indeed he is a traitor!

Gutierrez is breaking my heart......NOT! It is rewarding the parents of those who have broken our laws and given them exactly what they hoped to achieve: a free space at the front of the line for citizenship in front of those immigrants who have played by the rules and jumped through the paperwork hoops while waiting patiently for years.

Let us reward those who have shown respect for our immigration laws, no those who have made a mockery of them. Once an individual is knowledgeable of his/her illegal status and does nothing about it they are indeed complicit in their crime and co-conspirators with those who originally committed it.

NO AMNESTY!

You nailed it...their criminal family members who sneaked over the border and perhaps stole an ID can get to the front of the line while some legal aliens have no chance of a path towards a Greencard and has to become illegal to get the same...that is ridiculous!

Some probably don't even know or haven't gotten any proof who they really are and/or have fake papers. How can someone proof they were here before they were 16 or 15 and if they had schooling....perhaps more fake papers because they did home schooling. Join the army and get a sign up bonus, stay for 2 or 3 yrs and get free health care, etc...

Wow it seems we moved to a socialist country....

Meh - lies is all they have.............that "story" of "knowingly employed an illegal" has been debunked so many times, but they don't want to hear it. Then when Whitman fired her as soon as she knew Diaz' status, she was crucified by the Latino community for being "heartless" LOL
