I guess they just think additional votes for thr Dem....not about the safety of this country.
Its political grandstanding, with no chance in hell of passing the Senate.
But on a side note, I feel that if anyone wants to come into our country, and they work to become citizens through military service or going to college, I have no problem with them remaining in our country, regardless of how they got here.
I'm a pro immigration guy, I want to allow hard workers into my country. Evict the bums.

We should be talking about enacting a moratorium on all immigration until our hard working and best and brightest are back on the job.
Instead we are sawing off the very tree branch we are perched upon.

The best and the brightest aren't picking fruit or mowing yards.
People said the same thing about the Irish, they are stealing our jobs, hurting the country, etc, etc.
But with hard work, at a cheap price, my ancestors made this country better. Every Mexican immigrant I've seen are hard working, family people. I'll keep them, and get rid of some of the other idiots I've seen lying around on unemployment for 6 months waiting for their "ideal" job.
It's been that way since about 1492. Why bother worrying about it now?
Every single country has immigration laws today. Why shouldn't America?
The Dream Act is an insulting slap in the face to legal immigrants. Why should someone be granted American citizenship because their parents broke our immigration laws? Why should their offspring get to turn around and legally sponsor them for citizenship?
We don't need to add more citizens here unless they can help us economically. Getting a GED in Spanish is not going to accomplish that task.

But this isn't about the Irish immigrating into a wide open country back in the 1800's or how hard working the immigrants you know are.
It's about America and how we need to take care of our own right now.

When the Irish came here they were given two choices: survive or leave. They did not get to drop a baby and claim all sorts of benefits from the government. The same was true of most of our ancestors during the last great wave of immigration from 1880 to 1920. You either made it here or you left. You also came legally or you left. You most certainly did not stand around demanding signs in a foreign language, access to paid medical insurance at taxpayer expense, food stamps and subsidized bilingual education programs.
FYI, most Mexican illegal migrants (and most illegal migrants are Mexican) do not even have a high school education, speak English or earn very much. They contribute very little to our economy and impose high costs in the form of educational costs, medical costs and the use of public facilities they do not pay for. We've already let in over 10% of the Mexican population. We hardly owe every single Mexican American citizenship let alone taxpayer subsidized access to higher education.
This is backdoor amnesty and revolting, thoughtless identity politics. I hope it will not pass the senate. Carlos Slim is the world's richest man and a Mexican national. Let him take care of his own poor people instead of exporting them here.
