Isn't medicare cost going up a COLA. It is a negative COLA.

But the point I was trying to make is that the illegals get money just for living and they are not even citizens. And I haven't heard congress threaten to take that away from them. Or the emergency medical care when we are having to pay for us and them too. I had never thought about our government as the enemy until we got some of these crazy congresspersons and a president that does not think we have a right to know for sure about his citizenship. I am not so concerned about a COLA as I am about getting nothing. When is congress going to decide that some shouldn't be getting anything. So we lived in a smaller house and saved our money. The government seems to reward the irresponsible behavior and penalize responsible behavior. Some'em' wrong here!

You retire with one set of rules and then our wonderful government changes the rules and jerks the rug out from under our feet. Our nation needs some stability. It could start by getting rid of those that do not belong here, thus giving jobs to those CITIZENS who need them.

For news agencies to report that "54% of Americans favor the Dream Act" based upon this poll question is deception at best. That should be clear to anyone who reads it.

Suppose the pollsters had asked the following question:

Do you favor granting citizenship to illegal aliens who have broken our immigration laws and that would also provide a future path of chain migration citizenship for their alien family members?

What do you think the poll results would be on that question?
You certainly can't be serious with your post. The dream act only applies to illegal immigrants brought here as children who would gain LEGAL STATUS ( not citizenship) if they complete 2 years of college or military. If the position you have is so strong, then i don't know why you rely on lies and fear mongering to further your agenda.

At least, that's what's meant for us to believe.

I have never understood terms like "fear mongering" being used in the illegal immigration issue. But then I have never understood words like "hater, xenophobe, racist, nativist being used in this issue either. Oh wait, those terms and words are used by the pro-illegals to falsely demonize pro-laws Americans. Silly me!

Of course it's not to be taken seriously. And neither should the Gallop poll that you're masquerading here as somehow being the will of the people. That was the whole point of my post. To illustrate that poll questions can be written in such a way that assures a favorable response to any given position. There are many ways in which poll questions can can be further manipulated. Raising or lowering ones tone of voice, using facial expressions, etc., will also help skew results. Polls are really worthless in this regard.

Relying on lies or fear mongering really has nothing to do with the polling results. Most people who participate in answering polls haven't a clue what they're actually being asked about or how their answers will be interpreted or used. Polls serve one purpose, and it's to give the pollsters client the ability to manipulate it's desired media coverage.

My own personal "agenda" is to help prevent tomorrow's America from becoming like today's Mexico. I take it you knew that already though, LOL

America is truly headed down a disgraceful, crime-ridden and morally bankrupt path. And it has been for a very long time. It's current form of socialism and open border policies are rife with fraud, cheating and deceit. And we now have elected officials that want to reward and encourage those who practice such things. The so called dream act will only increase this type of behavior.

Gallup poll speaks with forked tongue.

Blacknight, that is NOT true, and you know it. They gain “legal status” FROM DAY ONE, by virtue of qualifying for the DREAM Act amnesty program. They will also be issued a SSN, and are then authorized to legally work in this country, although most are already employed by using a fake or stolen SSN. Some DREAMies have even mentioned they will seek a “better” job than their current employment. They will also be eligible to be issued a driver’s license, as well as receive in-state tuition in states currently offering this tax-funded benefit to illegals.

Of course, their ID theft and fraud will only count as a misdemeanor, and thus, will not preclude eligibility for the Nightmare Act. After all, the limit is THREE misdemeanors. If I’m not mistaken, they can even have one felony conviction and still qualify. Furthermore, during the application process, they can NOT be deported. Anyone can submit an application, including people who know they do not qualify, such as gang members, absconders, and other miscreants. All applications MUST be processed, and there is no limit to the number of people who may apply. Who knows how long the process will take, or what it will cost taxpayers.

Given that most only want legal status, a path to citizenship and eventual citizenship is simply the icing on the cake. In the meantime, they are authorized to work, attend college, join the military, drive a car, and leave the country. If that isn’t amnesty, what the hell is?
