Even I can't explain his statement - and I'm far more intelligent than most people.

There's nothing compromising about blanket amnesty. If giving blanket amnesty is a compromise, then what would the far left-wing solution be? Paying them reparations too?

I was thinking the same thing - plus the fact that he didn't address the actual topic. It was an intellectually-weak comment.

I just heard the complete quote by Chris Matthews. He said the compromise would be that we allow everyone who is here to stay legally, but then throw out anyone else who tries to come here illegally, starting immediately.

Does anyone here really think that we're ever going to solve this problem? I don't. It doesn't seem to matter who is in office. The will to stop illegal immigration isn't there.

That's what was supposed to happen with the 1986 amnesty. We were promised secure borders, and no more amneasties, in exchange for that one. You can see how well that worked.

They never even tried to make that work. After the big giant 1986 giveaway, what had been a trickle turned into a flood. It seems the illegals understand our politicians more than we do.

Just another thread about the incompetence of government.

When will we learn?

Why do those on the left insist that government knows best?

Why does the left insist on giving the government more power?
