The INS used to conduct "workplace raids" and the illegals they found would be deported. Now, ICE just conducts "workplace audits" and the illegals get fired, free to go find another job illegally.

Deportations of illegal immigrants hit record high, officials announce | L.A. NOW | Los Angeles Times
US deports a record 393K illegal immigrants
Homeland Security Reports Record Number of Deportations (http://www.thenewamerican.com/index.php/usnews/immigration/4810-homeland-security-reports-record-number-of-deportations - broken link)

There's a lot of information readily available to substantiate the claim of record deportations. Virtually every major news outlet in the United States can show (and show links) to supportive data. It's not secret stuff.

I don't think that's true. Where did you find this information, or is it just your 'guess'?

WASHINGTON, DC - More than 80 percent of those on deportation orders are still in the country. The Justice Department is flying over 300 lawyers around the country to win costly deportation cases ($20M per year) in federal appeals courts yet ICE fails to enforce the deportation orders it wins.

Bush felt they should stay in prison for awhile to deter them to comeback so quickly. Especially the murderers and rapists, along with the dwi deaths.
