It happens over & over again due to this sanctuary policy

Doesn't E-Verify fix this problem? The owner didn't verify and he paid with stolen goods.
$15/hr in OC is nothing...$12 is ridic...I bet the owner knew and thought he was getting a good deal.

Typical business owner response that knows they are hiring illegals.."I didn't know"..yeah right.

The most disturbing part of all of this :

The person who matches the Social Security number is not related to Hurtado and has yet to be located, Chambers said.

But, try not paying your taxes and see how fast they track you down.

Oh I'm sure they'll get to the actual valid owner of that SSN eventually - like when he/she gets hit for taxes owed on unreported income (the income earned by the illegal) on their returns filed.

This guy has a wife and 2 kids, I'd bet anything he's been filing for returns (including child tax credits etc). It's even possible the SSN belongs to a child, which is maybe why it hasn't surfaced as an issue as yet.

They really need to start hitting these illegals with criminal penalties whenever it's discovered they're using a SSN.

It's the whole problem with having a group above the laws. How can an individual know *what* laws he's still supposed to respect when he's told over and over he doesn't have to respect laws on immigration or document fraud.

Why would we expect him to know where to draw the line? It's okay to come here illegally, it's okay to steal someone's identity - very often they obtain these stolen social security numbers and laser visas from criminal organizations run by the violent cartels which control the border.

They are told that it's okay for them to drive without licenses or liability insurance, they aren't expected to follow any laws that inconvenience them.

A "better life" of course doesn't mean respecting our laws, it means more money, more material things. Stealing ipods is just that also - people steal because they want more than what they can have legally.

The main problem I see with respect to our laws is that Mexicans are coming from a country where the law is seen (and often IS) to be corrupt. When they get here they treat our laws with the same disregard as those of their own country, and rather than coming down hard on them so they realise that no, OUR laws are meant to be obeyed, they are pandered to so they learn that it's "okay" to treat our laws with disdain also.

Of course this also applies to those from other countries with corrupt officials, but we know 70% of illegals ARE from Mexico.
