So? If they're very worthy, they shouldn't have any trouble getting legal status, but also if they're so wonderful for a country, then they should consider being wonderful for their own country also.

Immigration shouldn't just be some get-rich quick scheme. It should be about bringing in people who truly desire to become a real part of the American people.

This is not a discussion on LEGAL immigrants from India, it's about ILLEGAL Aliens from India.

While I agree with the majority of your post this thread is about those that are NOT here LEGALLY.

They've also managed to keep wage growth in I.T. to nearly 0% year-on-year for the last decade.

If they're illegal they need to go.

And we need to shut the door to more of them. I don't care how tidy, clever, or law-abiding most of them are. When we're staring down the barrel of 9% unemployment, we don't need to be importing Indians.

Maybe the illegals from Latin America will get upset and start a racial border war. Then the US would have to close up the border.

Combined immigration rates should be inversely tied to unemployment rates.

We just don't need millions of people pouring into this country when there are no jobs, no job creation and NAFTA treaties that are still exporting jobs to other countries.

Work sponsored immigration of course is the best but why are they bringing in so many foreign workers still when unemployment rates are so high? Even the longer-term immigrants are put out of work while they keep bringing in new ones.

Family sponsored immigration is a far more serious problem and should be cut back to spouse and minor children only. We have many elderly being brought in to live their golden years in the USA on the taxpayers' backs.

And of course all the so-called refugees, asylum seekers -- bypassing so many other countries that make more sense for them except the generous government handouts are here.

Not only that but our tax coffers are being drained dry on the local, state and federal levels. That should be a consideration also when importing immigrants either legally or illegally. Government handouts should be eliminated unless you are a needy citizen.

The whole system is broken.

First of all, family-based immigration except for spouses and minor children needs to end now. Today. Immediately. No ifs ands or buts. I'd even support rejecting all pending applications. The waiting list for some classes of visas from certain countries is 25 years long. Just get rid of it, it's a stupid system.

Second, we should suspend issuing work visas to people when unemployment is so high. And the green card lottery should also be suspended under those circumstances.

Really the only visas we should be issuing at this point are for immediate family, students, tourists, and people whose companies send them here for short/medium-term projects (tourist visas aren't appropriate for those situations usually).
