Shocking. They should not have released him. They should have held him until ICE could show up and take him in to custody for deportation.
Also, we should demand his home country pay the bill (or, more likely, deduct it from next year's national aid we give them).

You do realise your ignorance of what is a law or not in the USA is laughable, right?

This was the right decision....

~ Her life is not in immediate jeopardy.

~ She is a citizen of Mexico NOT the United States

Maybe, just maybe America is starting to take back it's own country from illegal aliens and the progressive elitist left

Would it be the same if her maiden name were Schmidt and her husband was in military service unable to get the paperwork squared in time due to OUTCONUS duty?

What about the California hospital treating and streeting an American drunk in full blown DT's. Sorry, Kaiser Permanate cannot help you citizen or not.

How many cans of worms are open in one story? Guaranteed medical care based on necessity is an unfunded mandate whose mathematical chasm needs closing up one way or another. Ron Paul insists compassionate conservatives step up and volunteer their service? Where are all those volunteers for Maria right now? Crickets?

Reforming health care should deal with the can of worms so stop shooting yourselves in the foot and claiming victim. Illegal immigration needs reform far more than it needs amnesty. R's fear losing their cheap labor? Give those jobs to R's, it might increase the number of D's? Rut roh.

Here's another idea. Do the damned right thing and forget winning popularity contests. I have more respect for that than mealy mouth boys faking their way about adulthood & passing the buck. Anyone remember 'the buck stops here'? It needs a comeback, and applicable to all, not just pet agendas. Not for the protection of AMA, the insurance industry, the social security recipients... but for everyone. This means your Congressional health care plan too.

This decision was probably based on the number of border city based medical facilities that went belly up due the abuse by the uninsured.

I knew doctors took the oath but, I was not aware that hospitals, being buildings, took the oath.

Without more information, no one can judge this situation. Due to HIPAA, the details of the patient's case can't be revealed so we don't know if the situation was truly emergent. If the patient required surgery to prevent immediate morbidity or mortality, the surgeon should have operated. If the patient's case was non-emergent and she was a candidate to be transferred to another hospital in Mexico to have the procedure done, then the physician did nothing wrong.

Even illegals can buy insurance if they want to.

I'm sure she drove right home for the best of care in Mexico where their system will take very good care of her.
Do they sell health insurance in Tijuana?
