Articles (including blogs) discussing the contract are not a substitute for THE CONTRACT.

I thought Obama ended raids. I find the location of this raid curious as well. Orlando is a swing area, in a swing state this smells like politics.

They demonstrate the existance of the contract and when it was created. The eVerify site states the requirement for government contracts...that is those after Septemeber 7, 2009 have the eVerify clause. Those before that date do not.

So you look at the date to see whether it is before or after September 7,2009.

From your posted info. . .

Quote:
The final rule applies to solicitations issued and contracts awarded after the applicability date of the final rule in accordance with FAR 1.108(d). The final rule will become applicable to contractors on September 8, 2009. All employers, including federal contractors, may enroll in E-Verify at any time without waiting for the applicability date. Under the final rule, employers are required to enroll in E-Verify if and when they are awarded a federal contract or subcontract that requires participation in E-Verify as a term of the contract.
Without the actual contract, we don’t know if they opted for E-verify prior to the effective date, do we?

Because that would involve actual enforcement of our laws, which they have proven they have no desire to do. This raid is nothing but political posturing.

Apparently certain posters fail to realise that it is against the law to work in this country if you are not legally authorised to do so - govt contracts and use of e-verify notwithstanding.........PERIOD.

That was not the issue. They could perfectly well have used eVerify if the rule had not been made.

The issue was did they have to follow eVerify...the answer was no until Sept 7, 2009.

Off Topic. Standare pro tactic. You lose an argument you immediately whine about it being against the law.

We all agree that is true. So let us all accept that as given and quit wasteing bytes on a pointless comment.
