What mother would encourage her teen son to attempt such a dangerous trip?
Quote:
A Honduran teenager gained fame as the star of a documentary film that showed the dangers faced by children who ride across Mexico atop freight trains to cross illegally to the United States. But the boy, Kevin Casasola, rode the trains again, and now he has been granted asylum in the United States, his lawyer said on Monday.
Ms. Cammisa said that Kevin’s story showed the magnetic lure of the United States for many Mexican and Central American children. “Kevin was raised with an inner dialogue about coming to the U.S.,” she said. “His mother urged him to help his family.”
So now domestic abuse is sufficient reason for asylum?
Quote:
Since asylum proceedings are confidential, Mr. Gonzalez said he could not reveal the threat that was the basis for Kevin’s claim that he could not safely return to Honduras. The film provides a possible clue, showing a violent stepfather who spoke bluntly of his loathing for the boy.
What happened to re-entry after deportation being a felony?
Quote:
During the filming he was detained by American border agents and deported to Honduras
I thought that precluded any plea for asylum?
Yet another one that broke the laws and got away with it.

Yes, another “special” illegal. Why the hell do we even have laws?
Don’t be surprised if they send for his mom and siblings. Of course, at U.S. taxpayers’ expense. After all, we wouldn’t want to separate this future citizen from his family. Not to mention, it would be inhumane to leave them with such a violent man.

Yes - that's what the very popular U visa is about. All an illegal has to do is claim someone punched them - either back home or once they got here and voila - they're home free and also are given generous refugee handouts by the government.
Now we're getting all these people pouring over the border by the thousands claiming to fear their cartels and our government gives them money for housing and food stamps and of course Medicaid.
Almost makes you wonder why someone would consider coming here legally.
