That I agree with, transporting bodies anywhere can be a touchy issue in regards to sensitivity/respect for the deceased and their family members.

Also health issues and identification also needs to acounted for.

I don't believe that. I think most of them have the IFE cards on them because that helps them when they're getting through Mexico up to the border and while they're waiting to cross over. They don't throw away their IFE cards right before crossing.

In fact the Mexican army is all over the border and has been for many many years, and they constantly are checking soon-to-be illegals for citizenship, and if they find someone without the IFE card, they suspect them of being from Central America and will apprehend them, but as long as someone has an IFE card, they're safe because Mexican citizens can travel freely in Mexico.

In fact Guatemalans sometimes make the mistake of getting fake Chiapas birth certificates but no IFE cards because they don't know how important the IFE card is to Mexicans.

I can believe that some do cross the border with their IDs, I will agree to that. However, I have met many that do not. They know they will be crossing the border illegally and if detained, they don't want to give their real identity. Its wrong but it is what it is. That is why if you have ever heard of illegal immigrants found in the desert after months, they send their teeth to be examined for identity because their families are claiming the body. Its a huge assumption to think that if they do not have an ID, they are not Mexican nationals. I know many Mexicans that don't even carry an ID when they go out in their own territory. Most Central or South Americans that are deported from Mexico, are sent back from the Southern border with Mexico, not with the U.S.

Mexico charges families $7,000 per dead body returned from the US. Many families go into debt and have to sell assets to pay the fee. In the city of Ecatepec 46 dead migrants were repatriated in three years. It is unclear in the article if this fee is mandatory or only if the family wishes to claim the body.

And why should I care about an illegal's family in another country? I say if we send enough bodies back they will quit coming, stay home and fix their cesspool of a country.

Maybe because if an illegal immigrant dies in our country and he is not identified (not carrying an ID or anyone here claims the body) we TAX PAYERS will end up paying. Maybe then you would care...

A lot of Guatemalans and other Central Americans make it up all the way to the border but you have to be careful if you're waiting to cross over to the USA and it's cold out there. If you light a fire, it attracts the Mexican army guys and they do check papers, unlike the USA side.

If they see tattoos, they haul them in to check out cartel and other gang ties, but if someone doesn't show their IFE card, or is stupid and tries to show only a Chiapas birth certificate, they are taken in for further investigation because why wouldn't they simply show their IFE card like Mexicans do? It's Central Americans who make the mistake of buying just a fake birth certificate and thinking that is good enough to prove they are in Mexico legally.

Mexicans have to pass through a number of military checkpoints in Mexico, they have had to do so for years and they'd better have some kind of good ID, the IFE card is that, any Mexican knows that. The army will leave untattoed Mexican citizens alone even if camped out along the border because they have every legal right as Mexican citizens to do so. I know for a fact that if the Mexican authorities find Central Americans, even though they are on their way out into the USA, they will pick them up.

Maybe once they're inside the USA, some discard their IFE card but I can't see why they would. If they ever go back to Mexico even to visit, they're going to want it especially when reaching check points and certainly to travel back up to the border region.

In fact if it's Mexicans found dead without their IFE cards or other Mexican ID, I would suspect that they were robbed of their ID, probably by the same traffickers who brought them in so that they can be used by Central Americans being smuggled through Mexico by the same traffickers.

Issuing the matricula card wouldn't solve the problem of illegals out in the desert or in the river because they first have to make their way over the border and to a Mexican Consulate here before they can apply - and even then they're *supposed to* bring Mexican ID with them. But we all know that's not the actual case.

We all know massive fraud is being committed with the matricula cards and no real ID is needed to obtain one which is why people know an illegal with no birth certificate, no drivers license, no IFE card can waltz on into a Consulate office and buy these ID cards that obviously prove nothing. Anyone can.
