Drug ring used tour buses to smuggle marijuana through El Paso - El Paso Times

An El Paso man, Jose Jimenez-Chacon, 30, is suspected of being the ring leader in the United States. He's been arrested by DEA agents on a Jefferson County warrant.

An estimated 75 percent of the marijuana brought into Colorado was sold and distributed in the Denver-metro area, investigators said.

Eighteen of the twenty-three people named as suspects in the indictment have been arrested, prosecutors said, and the five at large are believed to be in Mexico.

Ten of the people arrested are suspected of being in the United States illegally and are on U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) holds.

But what's weird is how blatant these traffickers were:

Investigators believe the pot originated in Durango, Mexico, and entered the country through El Paso, Texas.

The buses did not carry passengers. Only the driver and another person were on the buses, said Pam Russell, a district attorney's office spokeswoman.

It's like these drug traffickers didn't even try to cover up what they were doing, empty buses coming out of Mexico?????? No way. You never see that.

Apparently we don’t have enough U.S. citizens willing to deal drugs.

They're just doing the drug dealing that Americans wouldn't do

It's very good news in that the cartels have been fighting a very bloody war for the control of Juarez just because it is such a lucrative corridor for trafficking. Thousands of deaths.

It's about time something be done.

I don't really see how any of this is good news. I mean, I'm not saying they shouldn't have been busted.

But what would really be good news would be people not wanting/needing to use drugs as a coping mechanism to get through life.

Colorado has medical pot now that you can get for just about any reason you make up. That means the dopeheads can get perfectly legal pot, they don't need the cartels' pot anymore.

Even if they were to legalize the pot, that means the cartels would have to get shut down -- you cannot keep these extremely violent criminal organizations in the business. They aren't known to share the huge money that is available, they have bloody ways of taking care of competitors.
