Oklahoma Senate passes Arizona-style immigration bill - Yahoo! News (http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20110317/us_nm/us_oklahoma_immigration;_ylt=AvjZlsUkVXjHosJrBX0un OdvzwcF;_ylu=X3oDMTJ0OXZkYWljBGFzc2V0A25tLzIwMTEwM zE3L3VzX29rbGFob21hX2ltbWlncmF0aW9uBHBvcwMxMwRzZWM DeW5fYXJ0aWNsZV9zdW1tYXJ5X2xpc3QEc2xrA29rbGFob21hc 2VuYQ-- - broken link)

But check this out:

Quote:
The original bill called for penalties to be assessed against employers who knowingly hired undocumented workers and included a requirement that the employers fire such workers.

That provision was stripped from the bill after business interests in the state lobbied against it.

Unbelievable how these greedy employers are allowed to lobby against the enforcement of our immigration laws and then be able to win, isn't it?

It is and will remain illegal to hire undocumented workers in the US whether Oklahoma passes a bill or not. Fines already exist for any Oklahoma employer convited of hiring undocumented workers. US immigration law[our immigration laws] does not require Oklahoma's businesses, their lobby or the people of Oklahoma to be enforced.

This Oklahoma bill[law] does not exclude any Oklahoma business from obeying our [US] immigration laws.

Pretty ridiculous. Those who knowingly hire illegals must be punished too.
