A group of 3rd graders were given a homework assignment which included the question: What is an illegal alien?

A. The U.S. puts them to work in the army.

I have thought about a whole bunch of things to do with illegals, but I have to admit that shooting them into space is a new one on me. I tried to dig out the whole assignment and hit a dead end at the edhelper.com site that wants $20 for access. It has the name Brenda Covert which yielded a hit on alliancenet.org. I wonder if she would send us the assignment if we emailed her?

Isn’t that the truth! I find it very interesting that the answers were structured to portray such a negative image on these impressionable kids. They may not fully understand military service, but given our current involvement in wars, even third graders should realize if someone is “sent to the Army” s/he may be killed.
Shoots them into outer space? C’mon. What kind of crap is that to feed to kids?
Puts them to death? Outrageous!
Sends them back where they came from? In other words, deportation -- they will send mommy or daddy away.
This issue is way out of control.
I would also like to see the assignment. But, I doubt we can get it, especially now that this situation has been publicized.
Why are they wasting our kids time with this crap? Teach them Math and Science instead.
