Default Doctors want more of your money for illegal aliens.

Doctors dive into immigration debate - Noticias - SanDiegoRed

In my opinion they can donate their time and do fund raisers. Better yet, drive across the border and do it. Maybe you can lure some criminals back across.

The link froze on me. Are they expecting taxpayers to continue to foot the bill for illegals? If so, forget it. Let them donate their services if they're so concerned about the wellbeing of illegals.

The first few lines:

A national association of physicians Thursday in San Diego called on the U.S. government to develop a policy that increases access to health care to millions of uninsured, foreign-born residents, including undocumented immigrants.

I am not for illegals and I can't stand illegals, but it is FEDERAL LAW that I have to treat them. So if you are going to make a FEDERAL LAW that says I have to treat them or lose my license, someone better damn well pay me for my time (and taking on the liability).

I'm for mass deportation - it would totally pay for itself.

Yes it would no matter how expensive. It is key though that we improve it so they cannot reenter. It's a one time expense vs what they cost us annually.

I hear you. However, correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t it only a Federal law for you to treat “emergency” cases? Of course, I realize they use the ER as their primary care physician.

I have to laugh at one of these ludicrous demands:

Quote:
The association acknowledged the need for border security but said that any policy that intends to force millions of undocumented immigrants to return to their native countries could result in severe health consequences.
Quote:
“We need to recognize that residents who lack legal documentation are likely to access health care services when ill, especially in emergency situations,” said Dr. J. Fred Ralston, president of the American College of Physicians.
Many illegals are Mexican. Mexico has national health insurance:

http://www.nytimes.com/2011/01/30/wo.../30mexico.html

In other words they don't lack access to health care. They just lack access to AMERICAN health care services because they are criminals. Well so do many Americans unfortunately and they aren't committing any crimes. If Mexicans want medical treatment Mexicans should go back to Mexico and ask the Mexican government to pay for it instead of the American taxpayer.

I really don't get this. If I want medical treatment I have to either show evidence of insurance or pay for it myself. Why are illegals not told the same thing?

I also have to dispute this assertion:

Quote:
“Those who lack access to health insurance both live sicker and die younger,” said Dr. Robert Luke, chair of the American College of Physicians’ Board of Regents during a news conference at the San Diego Convention Center. “This is especially true for Latino populations, the fastest growing ethnic group in the United States.”
You know who dies earlier? People who are less educated, indulge in early childbearing and commit criminal behavior. Since that describes the vast majority of illegal aliens it is hardly surprising that they suffer as a result.

They raised my medical co-pays this year. If doctors want to treat illegals then let doctors pay for it out of their own pocket, not mine. In the meantime let them focus on the needs of law abiding American citizens instead of law breaking foreign nationals.

Don't know if you read above, but it doesn't matter if we WANT to...we're FORCED to.
