ANNAPOLIS— Technology might play a key role in an effort to overturn a new measure granting in-state college tuition rates to illegal immigrants in Maryland.
Organizers of a petition drive, led by Del. Neil C. Parrott, R-Washington, said in Annapolis Tuesday that they're counting on the Internet to help their cause.
They need to collect more than 55,000 signatures by the end of June.
Then, Maryland voters would decide the issue through a referendum in the 2012 general election.
Yall are doing great...there were only two post in each of those other two threads...now its up to 4....wow.
Good luck Maryland.
Newsflash: These threads are NOT the petition. Nor is it a requirement for each person signing the petition to first post a comment on this forum. Get a grip!
By the way, if you know any DREAMies living in Maryland, tell them not to make any college plans unless they are prepared to pay the higher out-of-state rate.
University of Maryland, College Park
In-state tuition and fees: $8,416
Out-of-state tuition and fees: $24,831 Sorry, that doesn’t include room and board, books, etc.
Not all is lost in Maryland, even though it's Los Angeles of the east coast...
Wheaton and Langley Park now resemble Los Angeles, which is starting to resemble Mexico. There are also increasing numbers of illegal immigrants in Baltimore City especially around Highlandtown and Greektown, and no, they are not actually Greeks.
it won't take 200k sigs to ensure the required 58k valid petition sigs. But even if it did require 200k signatures, tax paying legal citizens of MD are PO'd enough to easily match that number of opposed signatures needed to get it on the ballot.
