You can’t have it both ways. You can’t be a “minority” when it suits a purpose, and also be included in the majority.
What purpose...? seems you and other like you want to say what everyone else is.

I can care less what group is the majority or what fears people have of others...I dont lose sleep over the foolishness of others.

A memory lapse so soon?

If you are already in the majority, why does your group continue to tout itself as the fastest-growing, and now the numero uno “minority” in this country? Apparently, some Hispanics are a minority when they can avail themselves of programs and benefits designated for minorities. At other times, they want to be classified as white. Again, you can’t have it both ways.

By the way, I don’t care about demographics, as long as it is legal. And, race/ethnicity is irrelevant.

What does race have to do with it? And just how are those who are ethnically/culturally Hispanic the majority all of a sudden? All I am saying is that there is nothing natural about the demographics of a country being changed by illegal immigration.

Of course you don't because you are of the same ethnic group as most of the illegal invaders. Would Mexico welcome a large, illegal invasion of anglos, Chinese, etc. that would thereby change the Hispanic demographics of their country? Of course not and rightly so.

His main loyalty is with his constituents, which happen to be predominantly hispanic-americans, he is proud of his heritage, and wishes to expand it and share it with other americans, like most hispanics do, hispanics in general due not beleive in the "american way" where you lose identity, and pride to become just a number, part of a society that is anti-social and divided as no other society in the world, hispanics want to use the culture as a unifier not a divider, there are many anglos that are catching up and are adopting spanish traditions like cinco de mayo, I am sure that "spanish" themes will continue growing and become part of the culture in usa.

Even if his constituents are mostly Hispanic why does that authomatically mean that one has to be an advocate for illegal aliens and to object to the enforcement of our immigration laws? Is that what the Hispanic community is all about?

His heritage should have nothing to do with the issue of illegal immigration. I am white and proud of my Polish roots also but I'll be damned if I would advocate for millions of Polish to invade our country illegally.

It isn't the "American Way" to abandon ones culture or native langauge. It just means assimilting to ours while still practicing one's native one at home if one so chooses.

Cinco de Mayo isn't a Spanish tradition. It has to do with a Mexican historical event. Nice how you are all giddy about some non-hispanic Americans supposedly adopting a Mexican tradition but yet you seem to be opposed to Hispanics adopting our way of life here.

We have many days devoted to particular ethnic/cultural groups in our country such as St. Patrick's Day but we don't celebrate it every day of the year as Hispanics seem to want to be in your face with theirs everyday. That isn't what assimilation and the melting pot are all about. Assimilating also means respecting our laws and not to put ones own ethnic group above them. Gutierriz is a prime example of that anti-American, tribal mentality.

Why immigrate to a country to pick a fight with the natives?

If you love a country you embrace the culture & language as well as its people.
Not fight them.
