I've known quite a few liberals adamently opposed to illegals. Being opposed to mass immigration used to be a cornerstone of the ideology. Not anymore. The Dems are the ones doing this and the most liberal Dems to boot.

So people will continue to make the connection between liberals and illegals.

I believe most on the left oppose illegal immigration. It is one of the few issues with bipartisan opposition. The problem is, most Dem politicians are pro-amnesty, so many automatically believe they represent the pulse of their party, when nothing could be further from the truth. I donít lean to the right either, and you know I donít support illegal aliens.
