And you know this because you've done a comprehensive study of the English language skills of Hispanic immigrants to the United States, I assume.

I have neighbors who have lived here over 20 years who cannot speak a lick of English. Many of us actually see it first hand. I also know Filipinos who are all very competent in English even though it was not their first language. Why? Because they make an effort.

Not only that but why is there a Press 2 for Spanish option nowadays? That right there says a lot!

I have yet to hear "press 2 for Russian" or "press 2 for Japanese".

You're absolutely correct. I worked with many Filipinos on my last full time job and they all spoke perfect English. I don't have a problem however with anyone who speaks English with an accent or doesn't speak it perfectly, just the fact that they made the effort impresses me.

Employers are requiring bi-lingual Spanish speakers now to communicate with illegal alien customers. That would mean that mono-English speaking Americans are being discriminated against in hiring practices. A foreign langauge is not a tech skill. It is the hands on experience for a particular job that is. We aren't talking about doing business with a foreign country or working in the travel industry.

English is the language of this country, not Spanish.
Communication is a skill. Language is a tool. Nothing more, nothing less.

Quite honestly, I am much more concerned about the mental idiots who are taking over the world.

And Spanish shouldn't be a require for Americans to get a job in their own country to be able to communicate with illegal alien Spanish speakers. It is discriminatory and their presence here is obstructing English speaking Americans from gaining employment. No needs to know Spanish to be able to perform the "duties" and basic tasks of a job.

English is the language of business in the country. If you can't speak it, you can't progress. Not learning is foolish.
