A very good idea. When you look at the absurd rate of welfare program use all along the border and in these sanctuary cities, it is apparent that cutting off the handouts to illegals would be an important step.
Then the open borders types running the sanctuary cities would have to deal with their local taxpayers directly who would have to take over the support of the illegals.
As it is right now, many of these sanctuary cities actually see the high number of illegals coming in as big money because the federal money pours in to provide the free health care for the, and federal grant money for the schools brings in many millions of dollars, jobs are created for the social workers and teachers and health care workers - while other regions and cities of the USA face cuts.

This is true. If federal funding for sanctuary cities is stopped, they would then be forced to provide for illegals exclusively through state and local funds, which would be impossible. Let the bleeding heart pro-illegals support them. See how fast they change their tune.
