This is because the Fed used to handle this and now they have a "hands off" approach to illegals receiving benefits.

States have to do this to save budget money. Illegals are starting to overwhelm the system.
I agree 100%.

Oh, please. The mere fact that it “includes” illegal aliens should be enough.

They wouldn't be drafting laws to stop the theft of benefits if that were true.
They wouldn't be here in the first place without all the government handouts making it possible.

Seriously - imagine having no more than a 3rd grade education and going to a country with a much higher cost of living to work less than minimum wage -- and also have far larger families than the people of that country.

Imagine trying to do that without food stamps, WIC, free housing, free health care.

they most certainly do get benefits here in my pacific northwest state. they have gotten energy assistance en masse and hud housing, and i have seen my illegal alien former neighbors buying fake id cards right in front of my window one evening. that was so they could get their papers worked out with the government housing manager. i do not kid you.

A full one-third of the NYC budget is for welfare, and there is an estimated 2 MM illegal aliens in NYC - you do the math. How are illegals getting their kids into public schools, collecting food stamps, and tons of other benefits to which they are in no way entitled/legally allowed to?

I can't do the math without the exact variables. You attempt the math...

The silliest part of the story is that people living in poverty feeling...............
"A lot of people who are marginalized and living in poverty are increasingly feeling like they are under siege by their state government," Andy Hoover of the Pennsylvania ACLU said Friday.

If they don't want the government in their business than they need to get the government out. Get a job and save for your retirement. Feed the family they produced. They wouldn't need the government to tell them how to live.
I know some can't help it. Then I know people who are disabled, are Vets, who do just fine in making a living without government assistance.

There's signs hanging in the unemployment offices letting these people know they could possibly qualify for more give away programs brought to them by the "Legal Americans"!!

It's so bad around here that even the illegals complain about illegals on food stamps and welfare. One guy (illegal) was complaining how some woman was trying to use foodstamps at a burrito stand that isn't legal and so has no way to accept food stamps. She was holding up the line trying to argue why they should take her food stamp card because she had no cash.

Some of the illegals who do work hard for what they get here, are disgusted with all the freeloaders coming over - almost as much as we are.
