I hope you realize you are referencing a poem, not a law. Furthermore, how has our tenet changed? Do we not continue to be the MOST welcoming nation for immigrants in the world?

A poem enscribed on the Statue of Liberty given to us by the French long ago does not negate our immigration laws today. We still take in 1 million legal immigrants today. There are 2 billion impoverished on this planet. If we follow your "let em all in" attitude we would kill the goose that laid the golden egg. Is that what you want?

Doesn't matter how much they risk coming over here. Our quotas for legal immigration are what they are based on it not negatively impacting our own citizens. So they are not heroes but completely uncaring how their presence here will impact our own.

You cannot compare immigration decades ago to today. Our population has grown to over 310 million now with jobs and resources becoming scarce that is why we have had to limit immigration and there is nothing un-American about protecting our own citizens while taking in reasonable numbers of immigrants annually. There are 2 billion impoverished all over the world, is it un-American not to take them all in and commit national suicide? Educate yourself on this subject, please.

I mentioned Jim Crow laws simply as an example of how flawed the logic that a law is just simply because it's a law is. That does not imply that immigration laws are discriminatory.

Who is suggesting that we take them all in? We are talking about immigrants that had the drive and the determination to make it over here already. They were resourceful and cunning enough to get over here to work in miserable jobs to afford their progeny the possibility of a better life. It's the same reason that motivated our ancestors to come over here and many if not most of them were afforded the opportunity without having to pass through some arbitrary screening process to the overwhelming benefit of the country as a whole. For one thing it's hypocritical for us to kick these people out because of some myopic ill formed law and for another it's economically very stupid to deprive American businesses of a good source of hard working, motivated, economical labor.

Right, because all those indentured servants that immigrated here from Europe completely destroyed our country... In fact those immigrants WERE the egg that laid the golden goose. That goose has now gotten fat and old and really really lazy, I don't see the wisdom of deporting a treasure trove of new eggs that are already here.

Indentured servant - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Quote:
It has been estimated that the redemptioners comprised almost 80% of the total British and continental emigration to America prior to the Revolution.
Indentured servants were a separate category from bound apprentices. The latter were American-born children, usually orphans or from an impoverished family who could not care for them. They were under the control of courts and were bound out to work as an apprentice until a certain age. The most famous of these was Benjamin Franklin who illegally fled his apprenticeship with his brother, and Andrew Johnson, who later became president.
These law breaking dead-beats should have been deported!

Edit: for clarity

But just what is unjust about our immigration laws today? Just because the bank robber was resourceful and cunning enough to manage to make it to the inside of the vault that shouldn't entitle him to the money. That is the kind of logic you are using here.

Miserable jobs? Most of them Americans have always done for a fair rate of pay. This isn't about motivation but coming here legally as most of our ancestors did.

Again, what is "ill formed" about our immigration laws? Employers are not being denied hard working, motivated, economical labor, they are called American citizens and legal immigrants. If your "economical labor" includes not following the rules of employment and slave labor wages then you're not on the right side of the fence here. You are sticking up for the greedy, corrupt rich that are benefitiing from explointing these illegal aliens. Do you really want to be on their side?

It is just common sense that the more our population grows the more demands there will be put on our natural resources, job availability, housing, schools, jails and hospitals. You need proof of common sense? Try this then, susps.org. or try "Immigration Gumballs".

These people were all impoverished, they paid 4-5 years worth of wages in order to get over here just for the opportunity at a better life. Hispanic immigrants, whether legal or illegal are no different.

They came here legally, what part of that aren't you getting? Coming here legally will not kill the goose that laid the golden egg. Coming here in uncontrolled numbers illegally and not within our allotted annual quotas, WILL!

Our treasure trove of new eggs are the 1 million legal immigrants that come here annually. Or don't they count?

The goose has now gotten fat, old and lazy? Is that the way you describe the descendants of those first legal immigrants? No Americans will work any jobs in this country including the blue collar manual labor ones? Really? You certainly have a sad opinion of your own fellow citizens that is if you are an American.

Sorry, but regardless of what an "immigrant" pays to come here for a better life whether or not they are Hispanic still has to come here legally or not at all and yes if you come here illegally anyways you must be deported.

Hmmm, video created by Roy Beck. I'm sure he is an outstanding citizen except for his questionable ties to:

Council of Conservative Citizens | Southern Poverty Law Center

The Social Contract Press | Southern Poverty Law Center

David Duke - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

John Tanton | Southern Poverty Law Center

Then is then. Now is now. Its time to think bout cuttin DOWN all immigration from Mexico, they have gone past there quota. Let us American Hispanics get ahead without having illegals from Mexico hurting us.
