Sen. John McCain fanned some political flames when he said some wildfires blazing in Arizona were likely started by people who crossed the border illegally.
"There is substantial evidence that some of these fires have been caused by people who have crossed our border illegally," McCain, R-Ariz., said during a news conference in Springerville on Saturday, apparently referring to blazes in southern Arizona. "The answer to that part of the problem is to get a secure border."

Although I do not hold this flip-flopper in high regard, he may be right. If he has proof, he should present it. Of course, he will be crucified for daring to implicate illegals. Even if they had video of illegals starting the fires, they would still insist they are innocent. If they apprehend the culprits, they should be severely punished. Many lives could have been lost.

This shows where the fire started, many agree with him. It's just those for illegal crossing that have a problem, with what he said.

Excellent!

Just another reason to close borders.

Can't remember wildfires being so common upon a time.

Wow for all the "reasons" you feel that we should build the "Great wall of Chinmerica" around our borders this seems a bit like grasping at straws...

Was there ever any proof or anyone caught ?

Heck without proof it would be just as easy to say a crazy american bent on sending every mexican back to mexico set the fire just to strum up support for building the "Great wall of Chinmerica"

Granted...that's not likely but some kind of proof would seem to be in order for a statement like that.

Heck they can't catch the people setting wildfires all across the U.S. or find proof of who did it so it seems unlikely that they would here.

But yeah wildfires ain't no joke but I don't really see how increased border patrol stuff would lower the risk of wildfires.. I mean how man wildfires are there in the U.S. per year...now how many of them are set by illegals....would seem to be a non issue compared to every other crazy thing going on in America these days.

I don't have a problem with what he said just wanted to know how they were going to prove it when we almost never catch anyone who starts a wildfire...

We have better record of catching serial killers than we do wildfire starters

No, ever since Benjamin Franklin discovered lightning...

Our "monsoon" season starts soon, but it better had be some initial hard, soaking rains...

Otherwise the accompanying lightning does more harm to start new fires...

Odds are, for the "human-caused" fires around my neck of the "woods", it's not illegal aliens doing it...
