If you want to cater to an ethnic group, I suppose that's your business, but I wouldn't recommend it. We should be encouraging them to assimilate - not making it easier for them not to.

I have no objection to learning another language. I object to demands that I learn Spanish as that other foreign language solely to accommodate the needs of illegals too stupid to master English. I can only imagine the reaction if I moved to Mexico and started to demand that people learn English because I did not want to learn Spanish. No pro-illegal would back up that stance.

wat?
I said that I might want to hire someone who doesn't speak english and you said it "aint gonna happen". That says to me that we don't have to worry about these non-english speakers taking jobs that belong to real authentic english-speaking USAians. Did I misunderstand something? I don't understand what affirmative action has to do with this.

Best way to get them to assimilate is to let them move freely, let them compete for jobs, buy/rent property (put down roots), etc all like real americans get to do. Ghettoizing them will do nothing but decrease the rate of assimilation.

It is mandatory in my daughter's elementary school despite the fact that there are very few hispanics in my immediate community. She has no choice in the matter even though I'd rather my tax dollars paid for lessons in French or Hebrew.
Enough already. Americans shouldn't be told to learn Spanish just because illegals (most of whom are Spanish speakers) do not feel they need to learn English. That is very much what is going on over here. There's a huge attempt by Latino lobbying groups to turn this country into a country where English speakers are at a disadvantage if they are not fluent in Spanish.
We are sick of it.

You realize that there are many LEGAL Spanish speaking people here right now right? They may still be learning English as they assimilate. To deny them the access to your business just because they haven't learned English yet is some top notch entrepreneurial ****, I must say.

Have you been there? Many speak English to accommodate tourists. Amazing I know since they are American hating thieves. Also, take a trip through Europe and tell me how many people get offended because you try speaking English to them.

This is exactly the point i was making on some posts last week. At my daughter's department store where she works part time while going to college. Hispanic couples have come in there, demanding employees learn Spanish, and how come they don't speak Spanish. This really does anger my daughter as well as the Hispanic employees who also work there, their stance is that they need to learn English so that they can at least communicate. I agree, i do not have a prolbem with them speaking Spanish in their home or too each other, but please at least learn enough english to be able to communicate with those who do not speak spanish. I think the Italian language is very beautiful, infact teaching it to myself. But i don't go around speaking Italian, to those that do not understand it. The husband a hispanic gentlemen whom this couple tried to pull a scam on my daughter at the register, even put his hand on her arm, saying what you do not trust me, they changed the prices on some homeitems, and they did not scan right, the wrong code. The husband refused to talk to my daughter unless someone spanish came out and talked with him. Well no one spanish did, he started yelling, his 5 kids were running around touching everything, and he and his wife were yelling that everyone in America should speak spanish, since the population is mainly hisapic. They ended up getting escorted out of the store by security. Everyone knew they tried to pull a scam. My daughter gets really pissed when episodes as this happens. I do not like the demands they put upon us, it is our choice if we choose to learn spanish or not, and i do not care what the population is.

I bet they don't require their employees to speak Spanish though. Provide me with their website and I'll phone personally to find out.
