Unfortunately that is the case everywhere! A country can no longer think in isolation as it is competing with giants that are spitting cheap labour. I tend to agree with you that outsourcing is in fact much worse for America just as it is for any country. Outsourcing is literally an outflow of funds and capital to the recipient country. Hiring illegal immigrants would keep money in American hands (these people spend money; its utterly impossible that they remit all income to their homeland). And the American economy could really do with any spending (be it minimal or vast amounts).
Some posters said that hiring is worse because they ASSUME that jobs will immediately be filled by legal citizens. Assumption!
You should be informed that there are other options for businesses and that is to shutdown, as most farms seem to be doing or threaten to do in Georgia, or move their operations overseas (as both manufacturing and non-manufacturing firms have been doing over the past years). Do not forget that these are also alternatives for a business.
Its wishful thinking to assume an employer would just employ a citizen the next for four times the wage the illegal was working. So, as it might sound shocking to some, one really has to be realistic. The construction industry has never really recovered fully so any strict law enforcement of Georgia's type could only inflict more damage.
We all would love to live in an ideal world where we get paid the wages we had before the BRICs starting growing, but thats not gonna happen. Some wages have fallen, others haven't. You just have to be
realistic and just look at the state of the economy, and see whether it could afford this sudden fuss over illegal immigration. And don't be influenced by this oh-but-they're-illegal-they-don't-deserve-to-be-here crap
