OK. Which one of those 20 million people should his dad hire. How much should his dad pay that person?

Did he indicate "why" his dad has a preference for Mexican immigrants, as opposed to U.S. citizens? Regardless, during high unemployment, it is a slap in the face of every willing, able, and qualified U.S. worker to be displaced by foreign labor.

Leaving aside your "slap in the face" nonsense (oh noez I deserve to be hired!), and I'm 100% making this up, but lets say he just hates the sound of American English. To him, Spanish is a beautiful symphony and he likes to sit near them while they work, listening to their voices and dreaming of faraway lands.

Or they work harder. Do you see why it doesn't matter?

No one is stopping a US citizen from competing with legal immigrants. If they can do a better job for the same wage, a comparable job for a lower wage, or maybe a much better job for a higher wage, then they will get hired over legal immigrants.

Thatís his decision. There are more than enough available.

That's simple. He should pay the prevailing wage for the job.

But what if one of those 20 million qualified people was desperate. She want to be sure to be the one picked, so she was willing to do the job for a buck an hour less than the prevailing wage. Should Rock's dad not hire her at that wage?

If you want to discuss the pros and cons of in-sourcing cheap LEGAL labor from Mexico, you should start a thread in the Legal Immigration Forum. This thread has gone way off-topic, not to mention is no longer related to illegal immigration.

Obviously it's off topic, much like every thread in this forum.

The gist, of course, is that once those ILLEGALS are made legal, they'll be LEGALS. So yeah, the fact that I want a large number of illegal immigrants granted legal entry makes this about both illegal and legal immigration.

But, illegal aliens are not legal. If legalized, we would then have even more people legally vying for scant jobs. Mind you, the average illegal alien from Mexico is uneducated and unskilled. Therefore, many, if not most, would qualify for government assistance, and their tax contribution would be negligible. Please explain how that will benefit this country.
