It’s hard to take this post seriously. Do you actually believe the U.S. government pays for immigrants to come to this country? Do you not realize the thousands of dollars LEGAL immigrants are required to pay? We are currently the #1 destination for immigration in the world. I hardly think we will have a shortage of those desiring to make the USA their home.

But, nice try at evading your original question.

I think we are actually agreeing with each other here.

No, I don't believe that the US pays for immigrants to come to the US.

You're saying that we should have more africans or europeans (anyone but mexicans, basically) but you've provided no way to make that happen. I'm asking you how you are proposing to bring that situiation about.

It's a simple question. I'm not evading anything.

But your citations say they were. It is both legal and illegal immigration combined. In fact, it counts Mexican Nationals that have naturalized into U.S. citizens in those numbers (in all probability, not part of the "population of Mexico" anymore).

Immigration is not based on "want". We aren't going to pay to bring people across an ocean because of want. Businesses will pay to bring people over who are skilled. That is how it should be.

Why should we provide a way for people to come here because they "want" to?

Unlimited immigration is not a good thing. Especially if they show up with empty pockets and no skills like much of our current illegal immigrants.

No, I am saying we do not need more Mexican immigrants. Actually, given our current economic woes, we don't need more immigrants, period. Unfortunately, illegal Mexicans have used Mexico's allotment, and that of several other nations. Rather than having a more even distribution of nationalities, the majority are from one country, primarily due to illegal immigration. Again, they have ruined the chances for millions of others due to their total disregard for anyone other than themselves.

Do you actually not comprehend the difference between a statistic based on a percentage of illegal aliens in this country (12-30 million), and a percentage of the population of Mexico (100+ million)? The estimate I used was based solely on the population of Mexico, and the number of Mexicans currently living here. According to most estimates, at least 10% of Mexico’s population has moved to this country, and most are here illegally. It doesn’t get much simpler than that.

In any case, that is more than enough “immigrants” from one country.

What skills do you consider worthy to allow an employer to hire an immigrant? Should you or the employer choose that?

Cite, please. When you say Mexican birthrates are you talking about Mexicans in Mexico or those of Mexican descent living here? All of our birthrates in this country need to decrease IMO. Our birthrates are still nearly double our deathrates.

lol @ not trusting various statistics, but trusting Benicar's-on-the-back-of-the-napkin statistics.
