I'm curious. What standards were we so adamant about when we enacted the Chinese Exclusion Act?

I guess we require you to be important now to take part in our elite privileges knows as basic human rights. Hell, most of them aren't even asking for the world, they would just like legal status so they could find a job and would be happy with that.
Unfortunately, due to massive illegal immigration, our middle class is being decimated. So, sadly, the “American Dream” is becoming nothing but a fond memory. It’s way past time for Mexicans to fight for their “Mexican Dream.” Why aren’t you advocating that?

This is, of course, not true.

When you drive, do you look forward, or is your sight fixated on your rearview mirror?

Hey we had the law for a reason. Are you admitting there might be bad laws with that diversion attempt? I know it's wrong to learn from the past and all so let's ignore it.

Of course there have been bad laws. No one has stated otherwise. However, our prior laws have no bearing on our current illegal alien invasion; other than the fact that our government failed to uphold our laws, which has created our current illegal immigration nightmare.

I believe we should learn from past mistakes. A prime example is the 1986 amnesty.

Yeah I don't recall any of the things happening then that you are trying to claim would happen now. Is it a delayed effect?

Right.

You guys love to rail against our “unjust” laws. Yet, you fail to realize it is patently unjust to give preferential treatment to people who chose to violate our laws, while requiring the law-abiding to wait...
Please source exactly how would-be legal immigrants are delayed in their originating country because of illegal aliens "jumping in line". Illegal aliens have absolutely no effect on the process of those legally immigrating, only other legal immigrants. You are perpetuating a false notion of illegal immigration.

I mean, you have yet to provide one cogent argument, actually.

See how that works? Instead of actually discussing anything, I just said "you have not convinced me." That way I don't have to argue!

Seriously though, I've tried several times to get into the economics of protectionism. Not once has it not gotten derailed with "they're illegal! American jobs durdurdur"

Given that we cannot grant visas to unlimited people, if we legalize illegal aliens, naturally, we must deny visas to many who are currently waiting. Or, do you think we can admit half of the world? The salient issue is their presence in this country. Unlike others, they are already here enjoying the opportunities and freedoms others can only hope to one day experience. How is that fair?
