Somewhat true if you are speaking about Bush himself but the Republicans tried passing a bill a few years back that would have made it a felony to cross our borders illegally, initially. It would have made it a felony to assist illegal aliens. There were other anti-illegal immigration provisions in the bill but can't recall them all. They also passed legislation to build a double layered wall along 700 miles of our southern border and for more secure borders. The Democrats were the stumbling block to much of this legislation. Keep in mind what party is advocating for amnesty today also.
