The Texas Transportation Code prohibits anyone from seeking work in public areas so League City Police is simply enforcing the law after looking the other way for years. MALDEF wants a permanent injunction prohibiting the city from enforcing the section of the statute that bans any resident—legal or illegal—from seeking work in public areas. To accomplish this, the race card has conveniently been deployed.
In their complaint the day laborers accuse police of harassing and intimidating them with extensive patrol units and surveillance and threats of citations and arrests because they are Latino. This has unlawfully subjected the day laborers to harsh fines and imprisonment and violated their First and Fourteenth amendment rights under the United States Constitution, according to the complaint. It has also caused them to suffer “economic harm.”

Whatever happened to simply respecting "No Loitering" rules? Why does it have to be about race? It's just that it makes sense for a bunch of people not to be hanging around.

If they don't like the way things are done in this Country for illegals or legals, and if they have been caused due [HARM] then maybe they should return home to their Mother land.

Where things are on the up and up? Why do they always have to bring the race card into these situations. Rules are made for everyone to follow, no one group gets a free pass, as they think they should.

If they don't like it, they can hop on I-35 and get their butts back to Mexico where they belong.

I would LOVE to see what would happen if American born contractors decided to set up shop at the local Home Cheapo to soliciate work. My bet is that that contractor with his name on his registered, insured truck with maybe even a license number for his trade disclosed, would be ushered off the parking lot pretty quickly.

Funny you should mention this. Prior to the illegal invasion, black men would try to solicit work at a few locations in the DC area. Guess what? They were forced to “move along” by the police. And, there were only a few at a time, not 50 loitering in parking lots all day, and hanging trash from trees.

I recently questioned a police officer I noticed sitting in a parking lot adjacent to a Home Depot where at least 30 men were soliciting work. I asked why this menacing behavior was being tolerated. He told me there was nothing the police can do, because the parking lot is the property of Home Depot. He then told me if they didn’t allow them to remain there, the police would have to deal with the possibility of them being hit by cars. I then asked why, in the past, black men were prohibited from “loitering,” whereas now it’s perfectly acceptable for Hispanics. He said he didn’t know. I just shook my head and drove off.

Oh, when I complained to a manager at Home Depot, he told me there was nothing they can do because the parking lot is not their property.

Did you not read the part where the police had ignored this violation of Texas law for a long time? It isn't a race issue.

Looking for work instead of sitting around being unproductive: "MENACING BEHAVIOR"

You heard it here first!
