I have heard that many illegal immigrants are now heading back home because of a terrible economy here, stricter enforcement of immigration laws, and a booming economy back home. Mexico's economy enjoys an unemployment rate half that of the US. Similarly, many countries in Latin America have low unemployment and while living conditions may not be to the same standards, having a job is important because many of these immigrants believe in hard work, many times in jobs that Americans flatly refuse to do for various reasons (most glaringly agriculture).
Will this trend continue? Will it reverse again back to the US once the economy recovers? What can the US and international countries do to stem illegal immigration and offer jobs and a better life for their own people?

Haven't seen a reduction in numbers around here; if anything it seems like there are more of them than ever.

Illegal aliens (not immigrants) don't hold the corner of the market on being hard workers. That is just plain nonsense. it is also nonsense that Americans flatly refuse to do most jobs in this country.
I am so sick of the agricultural argument when most illegals aren't picking crops but doing jobs that most Americans will do.
Illegals don't belong here whether our economy is good or bad. I have no idea whether illegals are leaving in significant numbers or not. Many of them are probably living off the welfare provided for their anchors or working under the table with jobs drying up.

Mexico, where MOST illegal aliens come from, aint poor. Haiti IS poor. Mexico needs to pull its head outta its butt and help its campesinos, WE dont owe Mexico nothing.
Not where I live. I see a lot of Arizona license plates along with more Mexico plates than ever. It's greatly increased where I live, but they're letting a lot of them come legally too.

So in El Paso, how do you tell whether Mexican license plates mean a day trip from Juarez with a Border Crossing Card (inappropriately called a "Shopping Visa" here), or more of a permanent migration?...
Packed with luggage, and a "Nuevo York o Bust!" bumper sticker?...
Or you'll tell us the plates are from the southern Mexican states now?...

Is parked in driveways and apartment parking lots enough? In fact there is no denying that combined "immigration" is way up as people flee Juarez legally and illegally. Of course they could just head to safer parts of Mexico which we all know there are.
It's even been reported in the news that many thousands of people from Juarez have now relocated. There isn't really that much demand for immigrants in a region with few jobs, unemployment is chronically high but of course that doesn't stop the pro-illegals from claiming we need many more unemployed people to add to the pot.
I have retired uncles living in Ensenada, Baja California that have mentioned Mexican TV news reports that many folks are returning to Mexico and the rest of Latin America due to the job situation in the U.S. As soon as our gutless and sell out government enforces laws, illegals won't come in anymore.

Good news. Not to deport a few MILLION more illegal aliens an there young anchors.
