It's absolutely jaw-dropping (and by this I mean "not at all surprising") that we see these sorts of posts even though people jump up and down denying that bigotry has anything to do with their objections to immigration.

Oh, and BTW, I am pretty sure the English here a couple of hundred years ago said pretty much the exact same thing about the Irish and the Italians etc etc.

What is this "much evidence" you are talking about? You are concluding from a Zogby poll that does not show how the questions were asked, neither where the questions where asked, and that in a single line concludes that Mexicans believe that it "rightfully belongs to Mexico" that there is an intention from Mexico to retake the southwest. Go to Mexico and ask the correct questions, not this bull... information to fuel a silly paranoia

Think... please, Mexico as a country is not sending people to give birth and force their stay in the US. People are migrating for personal reasons, not a secret separatist malevolent plan. They move looking for better living conditions whether is higher pay, taking advantage of the US system, or even looking for their children to be born in the US to ease their future.

Again... just ask this question
What would be the motivation for this takeover? It goes precisely against why people migrated in the first place.

There are some points that make sense in this illegal immigration debate, like being against providing services in Spanish, asking for integration into American society and reducing the numbers of people that migrate... but what you are doing here is simply promoting hatred towards a group by exacerbating an idea that has no solid roots.

I invite you to go to schools, and see how these "separatist" children choose to speak English above Spanish, and how after a single generation the "allegiance" to their foreign countries is lost and feel American.

If there is no oppression there is no reason for dissent. The illegal immigrant group could be the only one in "sight" of this movement as this group is the one facing certain level of repression, but why would they be asking for amnesty and inclusion when what they want is actually separation?

Do you see a difference between immigrants then & now?
If not you are either following the blind.

But the Irish and Italians made an effort to integrate themselves; however, many people argue that this new generation of immigrants has their own neighborhoods and language, so there is a difference actually.

Why do the pro-illegals keep comparing legal immigration of long ago to illegal immigration of today? I don't have a problem with legal immigration from anywhere nor do most of us Americans. The topic is about Mexicans or those of Mexican ancestry that are of the "stolen land" mindset and their attempts to take back lands in this country. Those are just the facts, not bigotry or racism on our part.

I agree. Illegals are not entitled to nothing here.
Nor should they protesting acting like they do.

What, so you've never watched The Godfather films or known any "Scots-Irish" Americans (aka "rednecks")?

Actually, the Mexican-American side of "Hispanic" culture usually tends to be pretty low-key politically, despite their significant numbers in this country. Ironically, all this "anti-illegal" hysteria might be just the thing to finally "mobilize" them...!

Anti-illegal hysteria? So wanting our immigration laws enforced is hysteria?

Yeah. Then they were mostly white (of course, at the time, English didn't consider Irish to be "white").

Yeah, unfortunately, studies show that immigrants today integrate faster than they did 100 years ago.
