Thats what I'm wondering.

No wonder there are 10 + million illegals.

Too many free handouts.

What are the benefits of being American anymore? What are our rights?

If they DO have licenses, complain about them... having licenses.

I'm not seeing how this fits into the standard narrative of them "stealing" from americans. Is there a shortage of driver's licenses? Are we going to have to tap the strategic driver's license reserves again?
They shouldn't drive period, for one they should not be here in the first place.

There is absolutely no reason for them to be driving, they can walk, ride bikes, ride the bus but the best thing would be for them to return home.

Obviously some Americans don't see it at all the way it should be. Right, try pulling this stuff in Mexico, see what happens to you.

What rights, slowly but surely little by little we are losing our rights, as illegals it seems are gaining many rights, is this fair!

What good is it being Ameican any more, if the rights we have illegals also will have, where is the compassion for Americans and being born in this Country.

We are going to need a President, either party at this point who is tough and stern on immigration, and will not cave in, on immigration. Or every State will soon see what it is like to be bombareded with illegals as my State and Arizona and N.M. just a matter of time. My eastern realitives are already telling me they are getting some, and they don't like it.

I had to read this three times to make sure I understood it:

Quote:
New Mexico is one of three states -- with Utah and Washington -- that allow illegal immigrants to obtain driver's licenses if they show proof of residency. Other states bordering Mexico -- Arizona, California and Texas -- do not.
Huh? Illegal aliens (let's not call them immigrants) can set up a home in the US and then get a drivers license? It seems that if a state is stupid enough to allow that then they should be allowed to demand proof of a physical address. The logic is too contorted for me though.

Why not just deny them drivers licenses in the first place like AZ, CA and TX and be done with it?

Home as in the place where they can get a driver's license.

I swear reading the nonsense their advocates write you'd think they were never allowed to get a driver's license. Which is of course untrue. They can get a DL in their native countries. They just shouldn't be able to get one here. Denying them the right to get one is actually a cheap and easy way to discourage illegal immigration. No need to spend money on deportations. Just make it hard for illegals to get around and you give them the message we want: go home or life will be difficult for you.

It will no longer be a benefit to be an American, born here or legally come here.

Trading votes for the welfare of the country.
