Tea Party groups, including Take Back Washington, Tea Party Nation and Liberty Coalition, bought a full-page ad in Politico on Thursday criticizing the mandatory E-Verify bill. They also sent an open letter to members of Congress asking them to oppose the bill to avoid disastrous consequences for American citizens.
Republican E-Verify Bill Faces Growing Internal Opposition | NewsWire

This is just a stealth national i.d bill.

blacknight04,

I have met and I respect Representative Barletta - that is quoted in that article. I have to presume that he has good reasons for his opposition to that bill.

However; I do think that our nation needs this legislation. I also think that our nation needs to enforce the legislation - if it is signed into law. I do not foresee White House cooperation with E-Verify.

All American NYC,

With any group you have individuals that think differently. At one time my Teamsters urged fellow Teamsters to vote for Ronald Regan. Most of the members, I talked to, did not vote for President Regan - we felt that he was no friend of our union. Just because a group endorses a candidate, a bill or idea; does not mean that the membership feels the same way.

That is the biggest problem with the media and opposition to the TP. They take the words of one member and use that to characterize the whole group. I do not think that is the case. The TP came together to fight for fiscally conservative government. They are tired of taxes and large bureaucracy - I have my money in my pocket and I want to keep it there! I know that it might be unrealistic - but the idea of a bottomless pit is also unrealistic.

I think the problem they have with this is that immigration laws currently available aren't being enforced.

Just like Obama just pushed through a big amnesty and has already made 300,000 new work permits available to foreigners here illegally, deportations aren't being done, illegals are being enticed to come here illegally, and if they do they will be offered even college educations, good high paying jobs so they can have their American dream, even while the American dream is ending for Americans.

That is what they want you to think it is. The reality is that it's just another stealth national i.d bill.

And as was pointed out in here already we already have SS cards and DL's to identify us so what is the difference if we have an enhanced I.D. card that includes those things plus perhaps some biometrics that possitvely identifies us and removes any fraud? Me thinks you object to e-verify and or a National I.D. for the reasons that most defenders of illegal alien people do.

Yes, it does work although not completely foolproof. If it didn't work well you wouldn't hear the defenders of illegal aliens objecting to it.
