Unfortunately this won't stop illegal immigration because our government does not enforce its laws and furthermore, rewards those who come illegally.

Say we've had this very policy in place for at least the last several years. I'm back to being a deploying U.S. servicemember, and rather than having months of delays getting my wife and stepchildren admitted to the United States, I would be told that it just isn't possible. And as an individual, my wife has no control over the government policies of Mexico, nor do I, as an individual, have any control of the same things in the United States.

Just like in reality, I would more than qualify to sponsor my entire family. We have a defined marital relationship, established before we want to immigrate. While I risk my life to serve my country at war, my family is not allowed to come to that same country.

My fellow servicemembers that married Filipinas, or other non-Latino nationalities, can bring their spouses, but my family are not from those countries...

How long do we have to wait? Do we lessen my unit's wartime capabilities (I was the highest ranking member in my job field for the entire 600-strong unit) by having me separate from service to live with my family in Mexico? My family is prepared to immigrate the correct way, but cannot because of this policy.

Tell me again why this would be a good policy...

Default The immigrants far better for this country than Republicans

I would instead like to see an exodus of those in the Republican party. They are a far bigger problem to the progression of this country than legal immigrants. Americans who follow bigoted ideologies have no place here. Let's instead encourage the outwardly flow of Republicans. Immigrants stay.

I suggest that YOU join your comrades and head out back across the border. People like you are what is wrong with this country.

Newsflash....the progressive movement is about to suffer a serious blow in 2012. It doesn't work...it's a bad idea...and I can only hope that supporters like you get angry enough about it and move out of the country.

What a dope.

Just what are these so-called bigoted ideologies of the Republican party? I can hardly wait to hear the spin.

For once I guess I agree with you. Don't punish those who are abiding by the laws. Stop the illegals and deport them as they make their presence known.

In fact limiting illegal immigration would encourage more work sponsored visas. As it is, employers wanting cheap labor have all the cheap labor they could dream of, nothing encourages them to provide work visas.

Spouses of American citizens are more likely to assimilate and be provided for, they at least have some exposure to the English language and a family support system. I think the family sponsorship needs to be limited to only those immigrants a sponsor will actually financially support which includes providing the immigrant a health care plan and be included as a joint owner of all bank accounts, credit cards, most spouses should have that.

Unfortunately society already pays for the mistakes of a select few.

Countries should not encourage illegals to enter our country illegally.

At least a million a year enter our country illegally almost equivalent to legal immigration.

A ban would help countries respect each other borders.

Both parties are at fault.

We need a leader not someone who is soft.
