The "Above the Law" actor was sworn in this week as a deputy with the sheriff's office in Hudspeth County, Texas. The 59-year-old, who's no stranger to law enforcement and is also trained in aikido, will help secure the U.S.-Mexico border, according to the San Antonio Express.

If something happens to Steven Seagal, I'll be sad. I'm being serious, that would suck.

Since when sheriff dept enforces Immigration law it is done by
US Border Patrol There are some sheriffs trained by ICE/CBP but

Don't worry, knowing Seagal it is linked in some way to publicity for him, probably another TV series...

And supporters that think he is hard on immigration will actually be very surprised...

Yes I'm not convinced this isn't just a publicity stunt for him. But like the other poster pointed out, if he really were to do something about that border in that county, the cartels will target him. They use real bullets, it's not just acting.

Then perhaps you could share with us what his "illegal" immigration views really are? You seem to be in the know.

Yeah, they ain't playing down there. I know Seagal is fearless, but he would have to be really in this for real, no jokes and be ready for anything. I'm a martial artist and have been since I was young. I was pretty much obsessed with any martial arts film and you learn about the stars/actors because of that. I know the dude is tough and I know of his spiritual views and exercises, but like you said, bullets are bullets, although he is a good shot himself.
