Calderon is whining because HIS deported criminals are exacerbating violence in Mexico. Well, boo hoo. Is this nerve, or what?
Benicar knows that if the US sealed the border that:
1) It would greatly reduce the GDP of Mexico from all the US dollars sent back South of the border via Western Union, etc... .
2) Out rage at a corrupt Mexican government would come to a head as the pressure valve of escape to the US is closed and likely civil war would ensue.
3) The New World order calls for the North American Union to be put in place in the not too distant future and Mexico doesn't see the border with the US as legitimate in the face of future plans by the world government (UN/IMF).
Since Mexico is the second largest trading partner of the US (Canada is number one) it could also do a number on the US GDP too

That may technically be true (Mexico's main foreign policy is with the US, while the US itself has more diverse foreign policy interests). But the question is: Is it worth it for the US to severely hamper its own GDP?

A more thoughtful question would be is it worth all the cheap, illegal labor to bankrupt our country and states, put more Americans in the unemployment line, add to our crime statistics, uncontrolled population growth, depletion of our natural resources, overcrowd our schools, jails and hospitals, increase poverty in our country and to dilute our culture, language and identity as a nation?

Anything that Mexico makes or grows CAN be replaced right here in the USA. An for a few things that CANT be done local; there other countrys. No: it would KILL Mexico if we cut em loose.
