The problem is of such a scale that there is no cure. The only way we might go at it is to spend a fantastic amount of money with only limited hope of success.

You don't send people to jail cheap. They resist and fight the accusation. So each time you chase somebody there goes another $50K. That is why the government virtually always settles these things. Taking on a chicken plucker is likely to cost millions. And if the chicken plucker was careful he may win.

I can tell what the solution ISN'T...and that is to turn a blind eye to the problem....which seems to be the route the federal government is choosing. How about we let the STATES handle it the way they see fit. Allow Alabama and Arizona to make their own laws without interference from the federal government?

The federal government seems to want to ignore the problem until someone comes up with a solution....so maybe they should just butt out all together and turn it over to the STATES. Maybe THEN something will get done.

I do not think you will see any solutions out of AZ or AL that do not involve handing the illegals over to the feds. The states want the right to harrass the illegals...not to deal with them.

Why not harrass them? Why not allow the border states to patrol their border with Mexico? Allow these states to determine the penalties for those who hire the illegals, house the illegals and facilitate the illegals. The feds job would be reduced to implementing the deportation. The fed has made it more than clear that they are both unwilling and unable to enforce our immigration laws.

On tghe news here in Western NY this afternoon....A 45 year old woman was stabbed to death in a Wal-Mart parking lot last night in the town of ALBION NY. Albion is between Rochester NY and Buffalo, and it is just a small town. The murderer is an illegal immigrant who was with 2 other illegal immigrants. The other 2 were not charged with murder but were turned over to federal immigration authorities.

So here is another death of an AMERICAN CITIZEN on the hands of the DO NOTHING federal government of this country!! It is an OUTRAGE and it happens all over the United States!! I hope that Obama and the politicians who continually turn a blind eye to this problem feel that catering to these people is worth the life of this woman. I hope they think that the hispanic vote is worth her life....but I'll bet her family doesn't think so.

So it's best to do nothing?? It's best to treat people who have broken our LAWS with kid gloves??

The states want the right to IDENTIFY ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS so that they can be turned over to Immigration authorities for deportation. Which is EXACTLY what SHOULD happen to these people.

People like YOU are why we can't get a damn thing done about this problem.

Oh so true.
Where I live if the building inspector walks on the job you better be able to prove that your workers are either licensed contractors or that you are paying all the taxes required. That would include workmans comp and contractors insurance.

That goes for a homeowner doing the work on their own property hiring out laborers, as appears to be the case of Olecapt here. He becomes the employer, they can not be qualified as independents, therefor he must withhold taxes and pay wage taxes. But then he admits to "informal hiring" as a code for paying cash, purposefully defrauding the government of taxes. Kinda like how he claimed to have been an illegal alien as much as 100 times.

Something needs to be done and very soon. Many of the illegals are approaching retirement age and will soon be demanding their social security checks, and the program is out of money. What will be done with aging, infirm, destitute illegals who never managed to save up for their retirements years because they were sending billions of dollars back to their own country every month?
